Over the last year I've really seen how rude eBer's can be.
I've been hit with 2 major hurrcanes and #3 has a direct bullseye on my house.

As a result of the some orders were delayed, some orders damaged by UPS due to their facilities being flooded. I normally ship about 500 items per week and most people are understanding. However as I posted about a week ago some are just butt ugly rude!

Today I have a guy telling me that I'm just using the hurricanes as an excue because he emialed a bunch of my other customers and my other customers told him that their orders were deleyed cause of the storms. But he simply doesn't believe that hurricanes are real, are killing storms and he has no idea that people really do go without power, water and telephone serice for weeks on end after a hurricane goes through. He say's I'm using it as an excuse.
I normally have pretty thick skin but after being first slapped in the face by three major hurricanes and now buy a few eBay'ers I needed to unload....

Where do you live? I'm in Jax, Fl but have some property on the Gulf so I get it both ways - I feel like the whole month of Sept has been spent dodging bullets (hurricanes)
I'm not sure he can contact other bidders you have dealt with - maybe he can but it seems like there is some regulation against this. You may want to check it out

What a shame! It's hard to believe there are people who don't know what hurricanes can do. Maybe he belongs also to the flat-earth society. Is this buyer in some backwoods burg where they don't get regular news programs???

You would think people would be symathizing with you instead of adding to your problems. I live far away in Canada, but my heart goes out to you all who are once again facing a hurricane. I hope you all stay safe. As for the rude buyers, put it down to their ignorance, they don't deserve a civil reply!

since the first hurricane this year I've now had 3 buyers be utter jerks! Two from MA and one from TN, the recent one from TN.

I'm in the Daytona Beach area so we got wacked hard by Charley, the eye actually passed over the house and that VERY wierd feeling! Had 107 MPH winds for 4 hours from that one.

For Frances I left the area since the forecast was for 140+MPH but in reality turned out to be only 100 MPH (I can't believe I"m now saying "only 100 mph winds!" but still lost power for a week, phone for a couple weeks and had over 16" of rain....

Ivan missed me!!!! Yea!

Now looks like Jeanne has her sights set on my house once again but only about 100 MPH winds (there I go again saying "only 100 MPH winds".

I really can't believe it that in reality I do think 100 MPH winds is not too bad. Drive down the road at 60 MPH, stick your hand outside and leave it there for 12 hours! Frances was giving us 100 MPH winds for 12 hours, now you can imagin the stress that puts on houses, roofs, trees and power lines. There's still (3 weeks later) 10,000 phone customers in our city still without phone service!

Hurricanes are natures Atomic Bombs! The pictures you see on TV just doesn't do anything to get the real story out. I've seen 250lbs. men be brought to tears after seeing first hand the aftermath.....

I know how you feel. I've had problems with the mail this entire month. I don't know if it has anything to do with the hurricanes, but my packages are getting delivered. I live in Louisiana and we didn't get hit.

Most of my customers have been very understanding, but some have been really nasty.

Hang in there, this will pass.

Early on when this family of hurricanes (Charley, Frances?) began to pound on Florida I started a thread about a buyer in Florida I had not heard from. I wrote her and said I was not pushing but just wondered how she was doing. She wrote right back just before Ivan to say she would send a check before she evacuated. I told her not to think about sending it but to take care of herself and we would finish the transaction when things settled down. I did get her check but before I sent the item I began to see Jeanne veering toward Florida. I emailed to ask if it was OK to send. She tells me to hold off till next week because her mail is a mess. I decided early on that my $70 was so unimportant next to what Florida was going through but she really wants the item and I hope someday we can finish the deal.

Reading this board I feel a personal interest in all the Outlookers in harms way and hope this season is over soon.

Photo...I had the exact same situation you described. My customer was in Georgia and Ivan had just come ashore. I told her the same thing, take care of herself and her family and we could finish the transaction after everything setteled down. She managed to get a check out before she got hit, but I waited till I got the all clear from her before I shipped.

Bill-

The bad karma these types give out will come back on them ten-fold.... If you give people a chance most will not disappoint you, but there are always a couple jerks. Please don't let them get in the way of good karma surrounding you.

I visited Daytona Beach a few years back and we ended up at a GREAT restaurant tucked away in some little cove. It's like a shack. There are oyster shells in HUGE piles out in the parking lot and all over the place. Anyone know the name of that place?

these people have obviously never been in a hurricane, tornado area, etc. They cannot imagine the devastation left behind or the amount of cleanup needed to just restore basic needs.

just try to ignore the thoughtless remarks and respond that "you hope they never have to go through what you are dealing with, and God bless them"

i lived through a hurricane when i was 5 years old and have never forgotten what destruction was left behind.

may god keep you all safe and clear the stormy skys soon.
