Has anyone ever had a buyer pay through paypal without being sent an invoice and adjust your s/h charges?
I've never had this happen before. Is there a way to prevent this? Buyer bought item and decided to minus 2.00 off my stated shipping charge. I could not find an aw-confirm notice that *I* sent her this with reduced shipping (and sometimes I will do that.) But looking in my ebay, I noticed it said: "Buyer adjusted total". I know you can adjust the insurance if its marked optional, but I did not think they buyer could adjust s/h? How do they do that? And how do you make sure they cant?

If you list through Vendio, there is a box to check in the eBay shipping area to allow the buyer to change the total. I believe this would be used under approved conditions. Like an international customer that you had told the postage earlier.
I would just refund the payment and send a correct invoice.

Thanks Gtootie. I dont use Vendio's checkout or post sale management. Havent even bought myself in awhile so forget how the process goes when you buy from a seller that doesnt use a checkout processing service?
Really weird. But yeah, I corrected it.
Just am somewhat concerned that I might have to look out for this now? It is probably because I dont state a fixed shipping in the ship cost field, but if I do have it in the auction body most times. Maybe she just sent me a payment through paypal.

That could be it. Sometimes I think buyers send what they want to pay thinking you will just accept it and not cause a fuss.
Do you list directly through eBay?

LOL, me too, GTootie! I guess she figured for herself that was what the shipping was questimated at and cut right into my tiny profit, too.
Sometimes I list directly thru ebay but mostly thru vendio. Just havent gotten up to speed with post sale managment software yet. I dont list that much, so kind of like to do a hands on thing rather than automated. [But that may change soon! ]

I have a standard "boiler plate" message that I have under a pending auctio called "book" It has all of the information on shipping & payments. I simply copy this, open & fill in the description. If I need to change shipping charges, its easy to do. I use html & set up the TOS using blue & red lettering. Makes ot really easy to read.

There is an option in your eBay preferences that gives you the ability to NOT allow buyers to adjust their totals.

When you are listing through Vendio...In the area where you put in the shipping to be shown on eBay, not the checkout, there is a box that you can check that will allow the buyer to change the shipping amount. If that is marked they can put in what they want.
You can also go into your account at eBay Preferences and take the check off.

Thanks Gtootie, I will look into that.
Tnernie: They must have updated this while I was asleep.... But guess what? It says: Note: Buyer is always allowed to edit total if you do not provide shipping costs or the shipping calculator in your listing.
So I better start putting it in. I dont know about you guys, but with me, packed weight always seems more than what I estimate and that is even given a box, etc.
- But maybe I get too anal about packing. Mezmerize myself with the smell of glue from the tape or something...lol!!
Thank you all for your help!
