I had read this as a storage tip and used it today as a packing tip.
I had several children's outfits and wanted to pack them in a pizza box I had left over from when I sold some record albums. I had them in a white trash baggie to protect them, and they just didn't want to flatten out. I folded over the top of the baggie and taped it, except for one corner. I stuck the sweeper hose in the hole and sucked all the air and the package flattened right out! I taped the bag shut and quickly taped the box shut really well. It's ready to go!

The best gift my mother ever bought me for Christmas was a seal-a-meal. I use it for everything (food, too, LOL). It totally seals and flattens clothes into plastic bags. Surprisingly, they aren't wrinkled when you take them out. I use it to seal magazines and books I'm mailing as well.

The Vacuum Idea is a GREAT one. Almost everyone has one. Being a dumb guy who only vacuums when the dog hair gets too deep, I would never have thunk of it>

Cheryl, really? The clothes aren't wrinkled? I've seen those space bags on TV but always wondered how the clothes would come out, from a suitcase on a trip, if they'd been flattened. Interesting!

I know if I buy clothes, especially children's clothes, they are washed and dried before I use them. So it shouldn't matter if they are wrinkled. It would only be a problem if it gave a bad first impression when she opens the package.
I might email the buyer and let her know this was the first time I've tried this, and see what she thinks when she opens the package. I'm assuming the bag is not air tight, and will have loosened up, although now confined by the size of the box.
