In the years I've been on ebay, I've never come across anyone who's as big a jerk as this guy. I had a record for sale in my store that had been sitting there for some time and I get this message on Saturday from vinyl-explosion:

>Does the $4.00 for Media Mail delivery include that of insurance for it only costs $3.79 to send this item by insuring it for $32.99?

Now, that question is basically telling me in a snide way that he thinks that I'm charging too much for shipping, because I charge $4.00 Media Mail + $1.30 for insurance. But, whatever, I figure that I'll include insurance in the price becuase I have a high markup on this thing and am happy to move it as the end of the month approaches. So, I write back and say that while typically I don't include insurance in the $4.00 price, this time I will be happy to do it.

So, the record sells later that day and I figure the guy went for the deal. Except that when I go to look at the details of the sale, I see that it was sold to someone else! Weird coincidence for something that's been sitting for 3 months, but okay. The buyer pays right away, everything's great. Two days later I get this email from that first guy:

>Are you simply deaf or just plain illiterate and unable to read or type? Item number:
4040059870 - REO SPEEDWAGON That Ain't Love 10" RARE ACETATE - Does the $4.00 for Media Mail delivery include that of insurance for it only costs $3.79 to send this item by insuring it for $32.99?

Now what did I do to deserve this nonsense? I gave this guy a quick response and also gave him a break on his shipping and I get THIS?? As if I'd want to EVER sell to this person even if I still had the item he wanted? What's more, when I look him up on ebay and research his listings, I find that he's a seller of vinyl (no surprise to me, really) and I see that he charges $4.50 for Media Mail + $2.00 Insurance! He marks up more than I do and he has negative feedbacks for bad service (no kidding)...

I type out a response telling him what a rude jerk he was (and I'm definitely assuming this to be a male) and then I figure it's really not worth all of that. The thing is sold, I don't ever want to be doing business with this guy, so I block him on my blocked bidders list and write back:

>This record has been sold. Thanks for your interest and your eloquent email.

I guess I thought it would be over but this morning I wake up to this garbage:

>Gee, that's really too bad because now this 10" Reo Speedwagon metal acetate will never get to go to a good home after all for you will not get the honor of shoving it up your ass where it truly belongs because you were (and still are) a genuine prick.

There are so many respsonses that flash through my mind as what to write back to this jerk and none of them should be written here. But, of course, it's not worth any of that. Thank God I didn't have a transaction with this bastard; I looked him up on that toolhaus.org website and see that he's left a rash of negs on other people's transactions and I'm really not surprised. I don't understand how this guy continues to do business on ebay with this attitude. Hopefully none of the good members of this forum will ever have to cross paths with this joker: vinyl-explosion.

Sorry for the length of this post, but I had to vent somewhere.

Yves

Can't you forward his email to ebay and see if they will kick him off? I had a lady complain about shipping on a fur coat(long story) and then looked at her sales and saw that she charged MORE on her shipping and should have known better--which she did. Anyway, shortly after I FINALLY received payment, I saw she was no longer on ebay(forget what they call it). Anyway, somehow people get kicked off ebay. MAYBE this guy?

How do they last this long on Ebay? Who knows. By blocking this ahole you will save yourself a lot of grief.
One can only hope that they get their just reward at some point.

epower:

Yeah, what comes around goes around sometimes. My girlfriend told me to do the same thing. I thought about doing that but then wondered if ebay would really do anything. I just foresee me registering a complaint and then seeing this guy get notified and ebay not really do anything and then I have to deal with this aggresive jerk stalking me- and I've had an ebay stalker before (ex-friend, long story, too) and it's just aggravating. But, you know, we sellers go through enough ups and downs during the days and weeks to have to deal with people like this. Maybe I will look into what kind of complaint I can register. There's definitely no trace of foul language or rude emails from my end.

Thanks for your support. I know, I'm breathing deeply... I actually can sort of laugh about how ridiculous it all is, too.

I had a really good one last week, someone asked a question and cursed me out twice in the question (one of the words was the F word) - He asked a question that was PERFECTLY clear in the description of the item too! I did not even respond, I just blocked, and deleted the message.

IF the guy emailed you through "ask seller a question" on the second piece, then you have him.
I got a hate email from a person directly using my email (which I still put in auctions, I hate the little "ask question" shtick at the bottom of the auction...although it did show up a seller who had no pix or measurements of a hacking jacket..but I digress) AND (finally) ebay said "unless it came through" their system they could do nothing.
smarmy smarmy smarmy.

OTOH, you could email him back, remind him that his you-know-what is probably the size of a peanut and how could he even tell which bathroom door to use in a restaurant.

...or you could do as extexbill wisely suggested.

JAPERTON- LOL. I would LOVE to tell the guy that, though I probably won't. Be it gave me a good laugh.

I actually received all of these through the "ask seller a question" button. Does that constitute some version of hate mail to ebay? I guess I could pursue it further... Do you think it's worth doing?

Playback,

Go to "live chat" and ask a rep for the link to report threatening or obscene mail. There's a form where you can cut & paste the entire email.

There may be a second report you can file if all of these emails went through eBay's system - like, abuse of eBay email.

But ask "live chat."

Ok children, I know by the title of the thread that you thought you were on the Roundtable, but you aren't. Please take your opinions down there where they belong.

And remember, opinions are like tooshies. We all have one, but not all of us feel the need to stick it in someone else's face.

Now go South!

I would definitely get this to Ebay!
They can nail him. I would be interested to know if they do anything.
BUT, my response was specifically: the correspondence did not go through ebay's communication system, so they were off the hook. (Okay that's my translation)

Hey, the bright side? You can call the guy whatever you want directly through email, and ebay won't do a thing!

I would suggest pea versus peanut, but then again, hehehehe.

I want to hear about Playbackfactor's biggest jerk, not the ones in politics.

Matter of fact, how about everybody let us know what their particular biggest eBay jerk did. I've had one or two myself.

Hey Stoney! GOOD NEWS:

"AP Article: Ex-President Clinton taking hour-long walks near Chappaqua home, wife says

September 27, 2004, 4:12 PM EDT
The Associated Press

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.

Three weeks after heart bypass surgery, former President Bill Clinton is taking long walks and enjoying the reception from his neighbors, his wife said Monday.

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton said the former president, who underwent an operation Sept. 6, is "making real progress" and getting stronger every day at their home in Chappaqua.

"He and I went for long walks on Friday and Sunday," the senator said after giving a speech in White Plains. "He's walking 45 minutes to an hour."

During his strolls through town, "People are so happy to see him, they really are," Clinton said. "Little kids come up and throw their arms around him and say, `Oh, Mr. President, we're so glad you're here!'

"That's a good tonic," she said. "I think it speeds the healing process."

Bill Clinton, 58, underwent quadruple bypass surgery at New York Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia in Manhattan after complaining of prolonged chest pain and shortness of breath. Doctors who performed the four-hour operation found that Clinton's heart disease was extensive, with blockages in some arteries well over 90 percent."
