I want to thank EVERYONE for your help in trying to resolve my sign in troubles.

E bay can't handle the TRUTH!

It's on their tech board. Trouble signing in. looping,,etc.

1000's of people have been affected by this KNOWN problem. But would they admit that to me on their Chat line? No!

I am now on another computer. I CAN get to MY e bay on this one. I can also get to the EBAY tech board and was able to SEE and read what Neglus was talking about last night.

This is a KNOWN by e bay problem. They are blaming it on anyone they can. YOUR computer,,Norton.........your ISP...

Page goes right to THIS PAGE CANNOT BE DISPLAYED.

I have Norton on that computer but from what many say that is just yet another LIE from e bay that is the problem.

I just got off chat line. I lambasted the guy good. VENTED! NOW after I offered him PROOF of THIER problem but of course NOW he admits e bay has created yet another ENHANCEMENT problem....

Anyway,,,,,,all this had nothing to do with any of the Fixes that everyone offered. I really,,,,,,,,,,appreciate everyones responses.

Yes, I do have Norton. Always have.

Some oth the other people with this SAME problem have succesfully gotten AROUND the problem,,,,However,,when I,,,,,,,,,,,tried their fix, of course i get,,,,,,,hahahahaha.this page cannot be displayed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There! Vent and thank you to all complete....

Now what am I gonna do? And,,,,,,,,,,,,there are thousands out there that have not even a clue,,,,,, spending MONEY on techs, and getting another computer,,,,,,ALL because E bay FAILS to expose their problems.

on another one of their problem pages they state the AOL users can;t sign in problems have been resolved,,E BAY!!!!!! I ain't on AOL!!!!!!!!!!

The aristocracy at eBay has done eBay more damage with their enhancements than I ever will by spreading bad will.

I dunno - I am still a big ebay booster..BUT lots of people are complaining of inexplicably slow sales and I gotta wonder, after reading tech board postings from BUYERS who can't sign in to bid, if that has a lot to do with the suddden slow down!!!

That could be Neglus - this time last year I had lots of bids for the same widgets. Now hardly any hits. Can't figure it out.
I put one auction on the big "O" and tried another yesterday, but after getting the whole listing set up, desc and pics, etc., I went o preview - looked great and then back to the listing and bingo, it was gone with nary a wisp of smoke. Psst me of good and now will wait until they get some of the bugs out, I think

Neglus - I think you are right. I wonder just how many eBay users have had the sign-in problem? I have a friend who is a fairly new seller, and she has been unable to even look at her auctions unless she goes to eBay-Canada, and then she can't do anything. Come to think of it, my auctions were doing quite well until last week, and then the hits went way down, as well as the bids. Kind of dumb of eBay not to address this, with the launching of Overstock's auction site.

I'm going to put a couple of things on Overstock soon ... when it seems a bit less precarious.

I was wondering why sells were down the last week or two. Like everyone else I was expecting them to increase. I hope eBay gets this fixed soon.

Ditto to you all! My hits are waaaaay down this week, and I've been thinking it may be my fault. Still could be, of course, but I'm comforted to know it's happening to others.

great theory Jack...except there's just one problem with it.

you don't see any other VD'ers that are whining about this do you?

sure, there's the Ebay board that has people with problems with it. there's the "friend of friend".

you say you went to somebody else's computer and logged on - they didn't have a problem with their computer eh?

odds are, that you've got a hijacker, virus or trojan that's redirecting you or not letting you log on.

I've NEVER heard of anybody that can't run Hijack this. That right there tells me you have a problem with YOUR computer. Not Ebay.

Go back over to your friends house and take a floppy or CD or whatever, download the HJ program, bring it home and run it on your computer and post your log...then we'll see.

It's a zipped file, fits on a floppy or CD.

I tried running Hijack this, glassgrl. I get an 'error starting program' message that says, 'a required DLL file, MSVBVM60.DLL was not found.'

Well, that's real illuminating. Not that I am worried, but was interested in the results I would get. I consider myself computer literate, but don't have a clue as to why I should be presumed to have this dll file on a computer that is working very well. I can imagine the consternation of the non-computer literate at this! Oh, the panic!

So, Hijack this was no help atall.

About half way down the page Jack...he's talking to YOU!

"Unable to download?
If you are unable to download any of the files here and are redirected to a porn page, search page or just denied access to the file, try these alternate links that should always work:

HijackThis direct download: http://209.133.47.12/~merijn/files/HijackThis.exe

CWShredder direct download: http://209.133.47.12/~merijn/files/CWShredder.exe

The redirection is probably because of a Coolwebsearch variant (CWS.Aff.Tooncomics or CWS.Dreplace) that intercepts your download to prevent downloading my programs.

Here's what I'm talking about:

"It's now possible for a "rogue" website to actually embed trojans, worms and/or viruses directly into a web page. In the past, pages that offer seemingly attractive downloads which contain such malware required you to click to start any download to your computer. Now it's become automatic, using features in the Windows operating system known as scripting. These scripts can load programs without you knowing, and then they run immediately. All you have to do is visit the site, without doing anything besides viewing the page."

you should see SAVE LOG right next to the Bold FIX THIS. This copies it to a *.log WordPad and from there you can cut and paste.

Does that help? If not, I'm always on!

Here's mine: I know that a lot of mine is Toshiba and Google stuff, plus mulitple IE windows open. I have looked at it so many times that I can tell *at a glance* what's running on my computer and what doesn't need to be there.

Like Helga a few weeks ago had a Trojan or Virus (I don't remember which) that showed up as an .exe program.
