Just learned that Ivilliage.com is starting "The Country Living Flea Market". They are a huge established site. Does anyone think that this would have a chance?
Here is the link if anyone is interested.

Sorry but I can't find my notes on how to post a link. Can someone post if correctly, please.

I take it this will be for vintage items only?

Hi...I'm unsure...from their other sites...pretty well organized. But, they have new items, etc.
Hopefully, their search won't be a mish-mash like the other new one.

I doubt it.

It would be nice to see it succeed, but they have one huge hurdle against them. No one knows who they are. That is why the big fuss overstock.com auctions has a real shot. They are a well establishest web site with a very good customer base.

I know who they are!!
When I was first learning about antiques and collectible, I would buy their magazine all the time just to read What's it worth! But I loved the rest of it too.
If their auctions stay true the magazine - it may just be the best place for Antiques and collectibles. I, for one, will keep a eye on this one.

I looked at the iVillage/Country Living web site. It looks slick and well done. Read an article about a collector of some widgets I collect and thought, for the most part, it was well done. I will watch for developments here.

Well, this site has been around since 1995, the same year that Ebay was started. So it is well established to say the least. No one site will ever become as big as Ebay because the focus has to be the auction or whatever their goal might be. However, it will be another venue for us to choose should sales falter at Ebay as it normally does at times either due to seasonal moments or their programming blunders. Since I have focused on books for the past 5 years, I am now looking into other items to sell. Yahoo or Amazon didn't put any energy or monies for advertising into their auctions as Ebay nor do the have the budget as Ebay. It will be interesting to watch.

I emailed them about this auction and here is the reply that I got so emailed them back and sent them the link

Hello Neva,

Thanks for writing. iVillage.com is the leading online woman's network. We offer something for every woman, at every stage of her life. We do sell some magazines such as Good Housekeeping and Cosmopolitan, but we do not offer auctions at all.

Hello Neva,

Thanks for writing back. I found the Flea Market page you'd mentioned before. Unfortunately, I hadn't heard of this new feature yet. I'm sorry if I have caused you any confusion.

The Flea Market will be open October 19th. You can start offering your items for sale on October 12th. http://magazines.ivillage.com/countryliving/collect/spc/0,,284644_650528,00.html

Again, I'm sorry for the confusion.

Hi Neva,

I don't think they will have the form up until Tuesday for the sellers. Then the market opens up on the following Tuesday.

Good luck with your selling!

It doesn't sound promising when an "customer service" employee doesn't even know they are going to be having auctions!!!

No app up yet!

Notice Everytime I have gone to the site to see if they were registering, my SPYBLOCKER program has blocked tracking programs running on their site. So if you aren't using something like Spyblocker or AdWare (we use both), you are going to have the site tracking you all over the web.

At this point in time, I personally, can't get the auction site to pull up.

Let's see, a sexist website, an onerous registration process, and bad cookies. No thanks, have fun girls.

This makes feepay look good.

At least on Overstock everyone from the CEO on down is monitoring the boards, and posting, taking suggestions, and following up. The people at this place don't even know they are running auctions!!!
No thanks.
