Hello. I got an email from ebay saying that my account needs to be updated or it will be suspended. They also sre saying that my account is temporarily suspended because my information is incorrect. My questions is how can I still have auctions running? ( I have two)

Forward the email to [email protected]. I got the same one this morning.

It's a phishing scam designed to get your personal eBay info.

hello, where have you been? Obviously not over here reading the board.

Let's hope you didn't actually click on anything in that email. If you did, change all your passwords!! Ebay, PayPal etc.

I had a friend email me yesterday all concerned about this. My guess is that the success rate for stuff like this must be pretty high. There are a lot of people out there who have been taken.

e bay no longer Bothers to reply whether it's a fake or real anymore. They got tired of that and now assume everyone should be aware of these things on their own. Sent three in the last week. No reply ever came back like they USE to. It was costing to much to have someone there monitoring.

I sent it to spoof@ebay. They replied within a few minutes that it was indeed not from eBay.

Whenever you get an email asking for personal info or to update your information or whatever, it's a good idea to send it on to spoof at ebay or paypal.

Better safe than sorry.

Guess what I got yesterday? An bonafide email from PayPal with a link!!!!! Not kidding...

I requested a download of my acct from 2003 (just doing my 2003 taxes - on my last extension!)..when I requested the log online a message came up that the file was too big (wish the $$ were!) and that they would email me when ready.

Yesterday afternoon I got the email from PayPal with a LINK to the site of the download!! I fired back an email to spoof@PayPal :"SHAME ON YOU! NO ONE FROM PP SHOULD EVER SEND AN EMAIL LINK- NOT EVER!" I haven't heard back.

Neglus,

I can't believe I am saying this, but in PayPal's defense, you did request the information for tax purposes. So in return, it would be resonable to assume that you would be expecting the e-mail relating to that and a link would be warranted in this case.

Ok. Enough PayPal gloating.

With the prevalence of all these spoof emails it is not prudent for PayPal or EBAY to send official emails requiring a log-in through a hyper-link and this includes WBN with "pay now" buttons! How long will it be before the spoofers contact our buyers with phony WBN with phony "Pay Now" links??
