Just got my first natural for a sale in July.
This is what it said
"Took a while to hook up and get items, but item in great shape"
Here's what happen. She used paypal after the auction but overpaid by about $7.00.
I wrote her about this and my emails were being return to me for a day or so. I finally figured out that she had added sales tax. So I got the cash and enclosed with the item with a little note. Everything was mail within 5 days of the end of the auction.
Now that is slow for me but still fast for many sellers.
I am fighting the urge to give her a big fat negative!!!!!

I know it's frustrating, but I would either not leave feedback at all (which IMO speaks volumes) or leave a positive. Leaving a negative will just make you sound petty and mean.
I had a Canadian bidder that I sent three invoices to because he kept emailing me for them. Finally, I sent a payment reminder. That got his attention and suddenly he was emailing me. He claimed he sent me numerous emails asking for invoices and that I sent him nothing. Bull. I got a positive, but with a neutral spin: Transaction completed with only a small glitch. It irritated me since apparently his email program was causing him trouble, but I didn't retaliate. I would have liked to, though.

I have already emailed her and asked "How Dare Her"
She is new to ebay and needs to know the rules. If mailing in 5 days is slow she best shop elsewhere!!!!
I think I will wait and cool off before I do anything.

Lady: You're on the right side of this--but I agree with Cheryl. However, you could at least respond to her weird neutral with some brief facts.
They say that no good deed goes unpunished. Sure is true for you, having refunded overpayment, etc.

NO! Why even consider leaving a negative other than the fact that your ego is bruised. Nothing that they said is inaccurate. Rather than simply sending a partial refund thru PayPal which they now allow you decided to take a different path which caused a delay and the delay resulted in the neutral. Now you think it is your right to dress her down and give her a neg. Are you forgetting that this woman actually paid you and did so on time?

The auction ended on Thur - she paid on Fri - I mailed on Tues? That deserves a natural??? I think NOT. After all she OVERPAID - her mistake NOT mine - guess she didn't know that she lived in Calif not Florida. I refunded - many would not have. I think you need a reality check if you believe what you write!!! There is much more to a transaction then paying and shipping. She never asked where the item was - this was my first clue of any problem and it comes 2 1/2 months later?
I posted here to help me fight the urge to give her a negative and it worked. Thanks to those who did that.

Mailing on Tuesday is not bad at all. I don't mail over the weekend. Usually, if an item is paid for on Friday, I mail on Monday. There have been instances where it didn't get out until Tuesday. The great thing about USPS is that they will pick up your packages. I no longer go to the PO unless it's international. It saves me a great deal of PO time.
Remember the days of having to stand in line at the PO not only to mail, but to have things weighed and postage put on? I'm glad those days are over! Since I work during the day, I'd have to arrive at the PO by 7:30 a.m. (mine USED to open at 7:30 until they changed to 8:30). In below freezing temps, it was no fun to stand outside waiting for the PO to open.
I've had packages take two weeks or more to get to me after I paid. Newbies want things yesterday. I wouldn't fret about the neutral. At least it wasn't an unfair Neg. We've all gotten those!

Lady - perhaps you should have named this thread - I want to leave a neg - please chear me on. You asked a question, you asked for an opinion and you got one. If you don't want actual opinions then don't ask for them but it takes a special kind of arrogance to give a scenario, ask for someones opinion of it and then complain when that opinion does not fall into lock step with your own. It's approx the same degree of arrogance that it takes to lecture someone who purchases from you regarding the opinion that they are supposed to have about the transaction.
It's one thing thing sit at the computer and call them a putz but to actually email someone and complain that they gave you a nuetral!?!?

We recently got an unfair neutral -- something along the lines of "beautiful item but shipping too high". We were really tempted to leave a negative, because it would have felt good to do so. However, we decided instead to send a pointed email indicating that 1) the price was clearly stated and 2) if postage&insurance was $8.50, and we indicate a handling charge of between $2 and $4 (depending on the item), charging her $11.00 was, to our mind, fair (esp. considering it was 4 plates, which require careful packing). And, why didn't she contact us first?
Her reply was that a) she didn't see the shipping cost until after she won the auction and b) she didn't know she could contact us.
Our (final) email to her basically said, "Okay, so you made two mistakes, and for your two mistakes, we take a neutral?"
Cool your jets. FWIW, she didn't blame you for the delay in hooking up. And, perhaps (as a newbie) she believes that feedback is to indicate her level of satisfaction with the transaction rather than her appraisal of the seller.

I cannot see any reason to leave a neg. So you got a neutral (not a natural). You were paid promptly. There is a saying that fits this. "build a bridge & get over it"

if you could only read - you would see that my question was about leaving her a negative - not my neutral. There is no doubt in my mind that I got a undeserved neutral. If you leave neutral for "like" transactions - shame on you. This is not what the FB system is for and she needs to be told that. I guess if the post office lost it I should have gotten a negative in your world!!
I won't leave her a negative and will probably take the best advise here and not leave her FB at all. After all this didn't change my rating

The first one is always the toughest. I wouldn't give her any feedback at all and I would reply to her feedback by stating that item was paid for on Fri and shipped on Tues. This will let anyone who is reading your feedback know your side of the story. Personally, I don't think that's a slow ship. I ship 2x a week -- either Mon and Thurs or Tues and Fri. If you were to purchase an item from an online store such as Sears, it would take a heck of alot longer than 5 days to ship! I think these bidders need to be a bit realistic.

I would leave a neutral stating poor communication - it will make you feel better and teach her a lesson. If she's new, feedback may or may not mean much to her. It's so hard to think that you were punished for doing the right thing (refunding her money) - "no good deed goes unpunished".

Well stated. Leaving a neg will only hurt you. Most seasoned buyers will look at your neutral and see how you responded. The question you need to ask yourself is, do you feel the need to put your own reputation at risk?

Not really - this is my first less than positive and I'm 1200+. I feel better now that I have vented so I just wrote her and let her know I don't intend to post a negative for her, I just hope she would think twice before leaving this type of FB in the future.
Of course if you listen to some on this board - you should post what you feel about the transaction regardless of the facts and I am feeling a bit negative about her? LOL
I won't do it - I won't do it - it's not worth it.
Thanks for allowing me to get this off my chest.

Oh get a grip. What in he world does the post office losing a package have to do with you not shipping for 5 days. Your desperation to be right is showing.
Oh, and by the way - of course the post was about your nuetral - you wouldn't be wondering if you should give her a neg if you didn't have the nuetral.
As for your attempts to scold me - like I said - ...takes a special kind of arrogance.

Hey Kiara,
About time you got back over here. Check out the thread about celluloid. I took the liberty of dropping your name in that one. I believe you posted a link to a site about a year ago that told how to test an item to see if it was celluloid. It also told how to test for bakelite and a few other things. I know I bookmarked the site, but I can't find it. It was probably on the computer that lost the bookmarks and I didn't have a current enough backup that included that one.

Hi sparkz,
Sometimes when I come here and read some of the things that happen I look at it from a distance and it's different than when I'm posting right in the thread, if that makes sense.
I pictured ladyjewels as the perfect little lady and then I thought about fenix singing a certain song when she was about 10 and somehow it just cracked me up when I thought about her being a bad girl. Ya......... I know........ you'd have to be in my head to understand and know how it wanders around and you don't want to ever do that. lol
Anyways, neutrals have a tendency to make some sellers angry when they've worked hard so I understand that too.
I'll have to check out the celluloid thread and see if I can find my bookmarks on this computer. If not, I'm sure Toasted will have some sites for those tests. Too bad Vendio doesn't have a place where we could post permanent links. I think you suggested that before and it would help us all.
