I've got 10 people watching a couple of my auctions that end in 3 days. Do you think that I could prod some into bidding by revising the auction desc. by saying there are lots of people watching and not to wait until the last minute?

Why Not? Competition. Everybody wants it and waiting for someone else to step up and HIT it! Prod 'em. Works in a Cattle Car, prod one and they ALL start jumpin'.

you're kidding right?? THAT IS TACKY!!
What do I care if someone else is watching??
I always snipe at the end anyway. If someone else emailed me that, I would assume he is either imature, a newbie, desperate for a sale, or think Im stupid to bid now and jack up the price. If I got that email, you would have one less lurker.

Jack when I first came on here there was a seller that used the phrase "beware of last minute bidders" at the end of every auction he used.I gotta tell you what a turn off that was-I knew exactly what he was doing and Im sure everyone else did to-he must think everyone was stupid.Everyone knows there are potental bidders out there,I dont need to be reminded of it in an auction.
All I can tell you it really irrates me when I see that and probably wont bid-but again thats just me
If he wants to add more reasons to make his product seem better-thats fine-but not to tell me there are potential bidders out there, I still think thats tacky

I just had a item that had like 53 watchers but only 2 bid. I had 10 or more request for shipping so I added to the description "Due to the high volume of request for shipping I estimate ........" Now all of this was true but the $400 opening bid ended up $1150 and I was able to just refer everyone else to the addition. I can't say if it helped or not but it sure didn't hurt!!

A thought I had to encourage early bidding was to raise the opening price every day until a bid is placed. Even say this at the top of the listing. I haven't tried it yet, has anyone?
If you can get the first bid early, usually more bids will follow.
