Some are saying so...

In order to register to post here, as a member of Vendio, according to them you have to sign up for at least the "Pay as you go" plan at $2.95/mo

I know they aren't charging me, but I've been a member for several years...

Anyone know about this?

I've never been charged, and I don't do anything here but post. This is a nice place and all, but I wouldn't pay just to post messages...

It sounds like they may be moving toward making the boards a "Vendio users only" site. I've long suspected that they would do this some day. They'll likely "grandfather" all present users.

I checked the Help link at the top of the page and found this:

What services require fees to use? What services are free?

Payment is required for our auction management services such as Sales Manager, Tickets Manager, Image Hosting, Watermarking, Customer Manager, Vendio Stores, and Vendio Gallery. All other services, including unlimited search, Community and news & information are free to use.

http://www.vendio.com/help/faq.html/16#475

So I would think the community message boards are still free for all who wish to post.

Just out of curiosity - on what thread are you reading this... where are these "some saying so"? I saw one person ask if there was a charge but I have not seen a single person say that you do. Now some rarely ever heard from person says that some are saying so and suddenly a veteran poster thinks that it "sounds like they may be". Good lord people... This is as bad as poor Sanmar who read some idiots "i read it on the internet, it must be true" post and started to worry that PayPal was declaring bankruptcy.

Fenix,
Jackswebb posted here about a week or so ago what he was told by Vendio when he inquired about dropping one of his accounts. Maybe you should direct your question to him, as he seems to have the most recent information from Vendio.

Actually, I saw a discussion about it on another message board. It didn't sound right, so I came to the source.

Someone that joined Vendio just to use the community boards talked about that in the RT and they said they had to have a valid credit card and then they wanted to know if they would be charged.

In order to post on the community boards you have to have a valid credit card to show proof of who you are but they do not charge.

I'll find out for sure shortly. I need to set up another special purpose account on Ebay, so I'll be opening another Vendio account to match it. I'll set it up first as a lurker/poster only and see if they charge me and report back. It'll probably be next week.

My most precise question to them about ending my current membership was, Will I still be able to post on the boards? I was told.........If you end this current status and you desire to return in the future you will pay a $2.95 a month fee. Your current status is a pay as you go.(as sparkz says, Grandfathered) No listing, No fees, any pictures you currently have ARE charged for on a monthly basis, and that is true, they bill me, I write it off as a Goodwill that I be able to act out my fantasies here, hahahahahah...........thinking, I was talking to WHOLE world, realizing now 4 years later there about mmmmm, maybe 100 of us? perhaps even less,,A real Archie Bunkers Corner Bar...

OK, so new posters do have to pay, and everyone else doesn't.

Is there something about

that you find vague or dififcult to fully comprehend?

Not as difficult to understand as you seem to find this:

In other words, there is no fee to post, but there is a monthly fee that applies to new Vendio users... even if they only want to post on the board.

Well, the reason I asked this in the first place is because I saw a post by former AuctionWatch poster Twinsoft, who logged THOUSANDS of posts on this board, who said that he had to sign up for Vendio services and PAY in order to get an ID on Vendio's board again.

http://www.vendio.com/view_profile.html?name=twinsoft

Obviously you know more than Vendio support, more than JacksWebb, more than Twinsoft, more than me...

All hail fenix, the smartest and bestest poster in the history of Vendio!

At the beginning of the month I wrote Vendio and asked:

"At times I post images on the board with my kiara account and use the vendio image hosting for them. Will I now be charged for doing that? If so, please let me know so I can remove the images I have stored there."

Their answer was:

"It is possible that you could be charged for images now, if you never use this account for anything else."

So.......... I assume that I will not be charged to post on the boards since I've removed my images.

New users may have to pick a plan to sign up but if they never use it they won't be charged? But then it says they will be charged a minimum fee of $2.95 for a plan. Yet their other message says that the community is free. How do they get to the community without choosing a plan first? Or..... maybe if they pick the free trial and then cancel they won't be charged? Confusing? Yes, I think so because it confused me writing this, but then I get confused easily at times.

I didn't take time to read all of the messages, but to get the correct info, go to the Vendio board. I may be in the minority, but why shouldn't nonusers pay? After all we that use the services are supporting the boards. I don't have huge bills, but I have used this service since its inception, so I guess I have the right to voice my opinion.
