This is on the vendio announcement board.
PayPal's IPN service delays
10/08/04 - 4:00 pm PST
X00345 Open Post-sale
from the PayPal announcement board:
We are experiencing IPN delays following the system maintenance earlier this morning. It will take some time for the IPN servers to catch up but all IPNs will eventually go out. We apologize for the inconvenience.
FYI IPN = Instant payment notification
Does this help....

Thank you Libra63, the error I am receiving is not only the inability of not receiving the IPNs, but I can't cancel payment requests or Print invoices.

I'm having trouble again with login. It was doing the same during the week. My customers were having trouble too.

I live in the south and I tried to pay for an item that I won this evening and was met with "error 3304" or something like that. I think the site is down.

They are completely DOWN this morning. If you try to log in, there's a message saying they are having "temporary difficulties" in English, German and French. Does anyone remember if they were ever down completely before? Hah, before they were engulfed by eBay?

Well, it's not working again! I have emails from bidders that cannot get into PayPal to pay.
We are sorry that we are experiencing temporary difficulties. Please try again later.
Message 3005
I think enough is enough already. Just how many days are they going to have temporary difficulities before they are called permanent difficulties?
Edited to that: You can get to the home page but you cannot log in. That's what they (eBay) get for changing things again.

Hi Cheryl! Now they are "down for maintenance until 6:45 PDT." Something's up, hope they haven't been hacked. By the way, nice to see you on Overstock.

I get in intermittingly. It throws me back out again when trying to accept a payment.
Overstock is great except that I've sold 7 items and have only been paid for three of them. They need to improve their invoicing system. As far as I can tell, you can't drop them a note with the invoice. I'm manually sending them now. The nice thing is I have a credit with them and I am selling things there that wouldn't sell on eBay.

I found PayPal intermittently working late last night, and I had to do "RETRYS" a number of times to get one refund done. With that I just quit, thinking it might be better this morning. I thought perhaps our rainy weather was affecting our satellite, actually glad to know it wasn't our personal system.

Evidently, change is NOT good for eBay or anything it owns. My customers are getting frustrated and well, I'm past that.

Paypal is completely down.
I just went to the grocery store and tried to use my Paypal debit card to pay and could not get authorization. I had to use another debit card.
At least now I know why none of my invoices have been paid from last night's auctions.

Typical ebay.
Buy something that works most of the time, raise the fees monthly, siphon off all the money so they can get more stock options, and then say it is bankrupt.
I am sure it is all paypal's fault.
The ebay people had nothing to do with it.

Is it possible that the Paypal site is being hijacked?.
.
.When I just went to www.paypal.com, on the main page calling for signing in.....my toolbar did not show a secure connection, i.e. it was http instead of https
.
.
.only if you click on the sign in button on the new home page are you brought to the https secure sign in

I just tried to take out money from a ATM because banks are closed and I can only take out 400 at a time from my merchant account and denied. I tried to login again and error 3004 came up. I called them last week when I had trouble and got in , it's been over a week now with problems. Just like ebay upgrade something and downgrade the web. I feel like 4 years ago when everything was going down.

Cheryl you are correct sellers and buyers are very frustrated with all the changes on ebay , paypal. The category changes and not letting you see completed auctions have really made people frustrated. Change is good but only when it is to make people happy not unhappy.

eBay and PayPal couldn't do a better job if they were deliberately trying to make people unhappy!
What is going on?
I'm glad I cleaned out my PayPal account last week.

Well it is sad to hear about Paypal. But my husband & I stopped using them after someone stole from my husband long neglected account, ripping him off of $4200.00. He had to fight Paypal to address this issue then finally refunded the monies after 2 months. He felt that someone internal had pirated his account for their pleasure. After the buyer protection fiasco for a few of my friends, I stopped accepting Paypal altogether. They are no longer seller friendly. Once Ebay bought them out, they were never the same for some people. Sad!!!

I think that the new Paypal homepage was hijacked, and that people who manuallly typed in www.paypal.com(didn't hit the Ebay link or any other link) were misdirected to an unsecure sign-in page. I know that it happened to me about 2 hours ago. Now when you manually type in www.paypal.com you do get the secure https site. 2 hours ago there was no https, just http.
