Yeah, I've haven't been able to receive payments or create shipping labels for about 24hrs.

Reading the other posts confirms that paypal is totally wacked right now.

PayPal suffers intermittent outages
Some users unable to make auction payments[

PayPal.com, eBay's electronic payment arm, was suffering intermittent outages on Monday, according to the company. The problems actually began on Friday, according to PayPal spokeswoman Amanda Pires, after the firm added some "code enhancements" to the site.

"Some people have been able to transact, other people have not," she said. "We are currently looking at these issues and dedicating the appropriate resources to getting it fixed."

Auction watchdog Rosalinda Baldwin, who runs The Auction Guild, said she thought the problems were connected to a recent design update for PayPal, but Pires said the outage wasn't related to a redesign.

"We saw a small issue on Friday," after adding some new programming code to the site Thursday evening, she said. "We believed we solved it. But there were intermittent problems on Sunday, and then today."

PayPal is an important cog in eBay.com. The company claims it has more than 50 million account members and is available to users in 45 countries around the world. Last year, the firm handled $12 billion in transactions.

It's not clear how many members were impacted by the outage. But in an odd crossover from the cyberworld to the real world, some PayPal-branded ATM cards weren't working either, Pires confirmed.

Baldwin said the outage is causing trouble with some account balances.

"When folks go to use their PayPal debit cards, the payment is rejected, but the charge actually goes through and PayPal is deducting the amount from their account," she said. "From what I hear, a call to PayPal does correct the problem, but what a mess!"

Pires said the company is working as quickly as it can to solve the problem, but didn't have a time estimate.

I know it must be up somewhere, because 6 people managed to pay me today. However, I have not been able to access paypal since last night. Spending the day dealing with frantic customers, I will be busy when it does come back up, that's for sure!

News story just appeard on Reuters:

Quote:
SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - PayPal, eBay Inc.'s (EBAY.O: Quote, Profile, Research) online payment service, has had intermittent glitches in its system since late last week and is working to fix the problems with payment processing, log-ins and new account creation, the company said on Monday.
"We are working furiously. ... We have all resources dedicated to getting it fixed as soon as possible," PayPal spokeswoman Amanda Pires told Reuters.

Pires said the problem appeared to be related to a coding update late on Thursday. "We haven't found the ultimate cause," she added.

It was not immediately clear how widespread the problems were, although eBay's message boards were filled with postings about the glitches.

Michael Bokan, of West Charlton, New York, told Reuters PayPal usually processes 5 to 10 payments a day on orders from his fly-fishing equipment Web site flyshack.com.

Bokan, who said he can see payment requests being sent to PayPal, said no payments came through on Friday, less than half than normal were processed over the weekend and just one was done on Monday.

On the PayPal board people are furious, they have been trying to use their PayPal credit cards and they have been rejected! In today's world where few people carry cash it is a catastrophe. If a bank did this for 3 days they would be investigated quickly.

hey hey hey ! I was able to log in amd see my account just a few mins. ago. it's 12:27 here in South Carolina. It took a long time (over a min.) for the page to load after I entered my password. So they must be ever so slowly finding the problem.

Vendio has temporarily disabled Paypal IPN automated processing until the site recovers. Click on the "Announcements" link at the top of this page for all the sordid details.

7am est here and I just made a payment out of my Paypal account. I'll wait a while and see if it stuck- payment made to eBay for seller's fees.

Site came up quickly and cleanly, maybe it's fixed.

EDITED TO ADD: I just went to the ATM and withdrew money without any difficulty.

Expect slowness all day, though- there must be a huge backlog piled up waiting to get on the site.

Came up for me, too. I made a payment with no glitches. Maybe we're out of the woods! Yaaaaaaay! I have a few auctions on Overstock, and a lot of the buyers are newbies - I was worried about sending them PayPal invoices.

I got in fine this morning. Thank goodness! I rec'd some payments last night and needed to print shipping labels.

Helga

My customers all stated the same thing. They just kept trying and eventually were able to get in. It could be the traffic on the site right now. Maybe there is a rush to close accounts. It would serve them right. Some people think they were hacked, they say it was a coding error. Either way, it makes them look bad.

I am getting a few payments, but still can't get into my account. If they would quit trying to enhance things that should be messed with they wouldn't have these problems.

Tips for getting in to PayPal - access through GOOGLE (don't know why, but I read that in a thread on ebay board and it worked) -keep hitting the "retry" link if you get the error message ...usually brings it back...still too slow to even try to process payments but at least you can clear out your cash!

NOTE: I didn't have a "withdraw" button showing but I clicked on where it SHOULD be and was able to send $ to my bank.

I tried to take my money out and after about 30 minutes I got to submit withdrawal button but the next page would not display.
Ebay will be trying to take their money out tomorrow - wonder if I leave it and let ebay worry about it?
