I remember the good old days when we could search past messages for an answer. Why have they never replaced that function? Has everyone else given up on ever getting it back? I could sure use it now.

They'll probably bring it back at some time in the future and charge a fee for it, say a pay as you search plan.

This was posted in a thread a couple of days ago:

Payment is required for our auction management services such as Sales Manager, Tickets Manager, Image Hosting, Watermarking, Customer Manager, Vendio Stores, and Vendio Gallery. All other services, including unlimited search, Community and news & information are free to use.

That answers your question. Now all you have to do is find where they are hiding search.

Has everyone else given up on ever getting it back?

At one time I tried to find other ways of doing searches on Vendio and I started a thread for discussion on the subject. I collected everything that I could find on it and I posted it all in this thread;

http://www.vendio.com/mesg/read.html?num=28&thread=225045

I KNOW there must be other ways of searching, but I just haven't found them all yet.

The including unlimited search function you are talking about, I believe refers to searching auctions, not searching vendio's message boards.

I saved that link to the old search function for a long time, too. Too bad it doesn't still work. I wish they would reinstate it. It is a lot more important that most of the bells and whistles they keep adding.

So is that who we need to talk to? Pirate Boy/Christian? Is he the only one from Vendio that listens in and gives a darn? Why should I jump through the hoops that the other thread says to do a simple search of past messages posted by other users. What is the big deal? It would sure make life easier. Why do they ignore this request?

At the time that I started that discussion, Pirateboy/Christian was jumping into threads every so often and I just thought he might jump in and answer my questions, I was wrong.

Honestly, I don't know why they continue to ignore this request, like it's some sort of a big secret how to do these types of searches I guess. But as you can see in my thread, the other, it seems that there are members here that may know how to do this but they aren't sharing.

One of the most well thought-out and very popular forums I've been involved in has nothing to do with auctions or antiques/collectibles (it's all about the RV lifestyle at http://www.rv.net/forum/ if anyone is interested). But it will allow you to search for messages posted within 14 days or over a year ago, search by member postings, by a combination or words in certain order, etc. There is even a place to sound off about general issues if one wants to discuss political views because their comments have nothing to do with the forum. And it is all categorized by type of question. It sets a good example of how a forum should be set up.

I have wanted to look something up many times about "what was that pattern name" or "who is the manufacturer of this particular mark" or something of that nature, but unfortunately there isn't a way Vendio allows a search function. Unless there is something they are not telling us.

Please Vendio, this would be very helpful to many of us.
