Hi. I have a buyer from Canada who wants to send me a check. I am sure this subject has been covered here in the past but I couldn't find a thread on it. Anyway, doesn't it have to be written on an American Bank so that my bank won't charge me. Is that true even if it is written in dollars. Any help would be appreciated. He said he couldn't use Bidpay because it is not a secure site on which to use his credit card. I have never had anyone question that.

He's nuts. Like Ebay and Vendio, the front page is not https, but anything beyond that that requires confidential information such as a credit card number is located on a secure server. I wouldn't accept a check from an international bidder, unless it were on an American bank in U.S. dollars. That's one I would wait on to clear before I shipped.

if it is drawn on us bank, you can deposit it just like any us bank check unless you are in California.
Best is to ask him to haul his ass to canadian post office and get you a us dollars denominated postal order, you can cash it at your local post office with photo id.
