I was watching TV tonight and was surprised to see an ad for Overstock Auctions! It was a thin gorgeous woman saying that "we're taking on the big boys" and to "get in on the ground floor"!! It was a good ad and a smart thing for them to do.

Then...a few minutes later I saw another ad with people doing nice things for other people...and the message at the end read something about "we always knew people were basically good" not a direct quote - and it was an EBAY ad!

I have a feeling the war has just begun! What do you all think???

I think both places are wasting their money.

From what I've read here, Overstock isn't getting off to a good start. Better they spend their $$$ fixing what appears to be a flimsy infrastructure.

I did register on Overstock, just to keep my eBay ID from being used by someone else, but I don't plan to list there.

Where did you see the ad for overstock? Was it on cable, normal TV?

I have yet to see one.

Hi Stone!! It was on during the Red Sox - Yankees game tonight, early on...probably around 7:30 or 8 central time. I was really surprised they would be spending the $$$$ for ads so soon.

When O first opened up, I listed 12 items and only sold one. So I may list there, I may not. Haven't really decided. Right now I'm not selling much on eBay, either.

Hi Rosy...Re: Overstock...a couple of weeks ago when they opened the auction, there was a big rush.
Many listed items. Alas, it seems to have fizzled...at least for our operation.
Maybe others have had better success.

Overstock's add was pretty good compared to what eBay has been putting out which are among the worst commercials I have ever seen.

I think Lucy's right though, a waste of money that could be better spent elsewhere.

I also signed up just to save my ID in case I decide to list there in the future.

Remember Gegy with that slippery looking green man logo. Whatever happened to them.

Sad, pathetic GagMe.com has morphed into a drop-shipper for DVDs & CDs -- what a joke!

I've listed 10 auctions on Overstuffed.com, & I'm into my first re-list without a sale

At the same time, my feeBay STORE has been delightfully active & RALPHIE is a'rollin in KIBBLE&BEER!

Looks like I'll lose about $17 in listing fees at OS & that's not an impressive beginning...

PLUS, the "BE MOI FRIEND" horse-puckey is getting old fast...

Hey,
I just saw an Overstock ad on the Red Sox game. Wow, that is impressive. Now to get that stupid election over with so people will start buying again.
