Wow Ain't ...look at the spelling in the ebay ad! I am not sure I would trust someone that spells like that to know diddly!

neglus: that's just another sad result of the poor standard of education these days. Kids finish college these days without being able to spell diddly.

LOL Japerton - you prompted me to look it up in the online American Heritage Dictionary AND IT WAS THERE!I am not kidding - this is the real copy/paste :
did·dly (ddl) KEY
NOUN:
Slang
A small or worthless amount: His advice wasn't worth diddly to me.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ETYMOLOGY:
Short for diddlyshit ; see diddly-squat
See Thesaurus

See! I knew my 1950's education wouldn't fail me. LOL And Japerton, it's etex, not extex.
It must be an optical illusion or something. Most of the people who write or answer my posts refer to extex. I'm in East Texas, not an Ex-Texan, (thank goodness).

I can across this one last night while looking for something else. Was shocked to see the price!
http://search.ebay.com/bach-silver-trumpet_W0QQsojsZ1QQfromZR40 I bought one used in 1976 for $50. Our house burned down and we lost everything including my trumpet. I was still in band and needed a replacement. When I graduated, I donated it to the band department!

I loved texas, still in search of decent mexican food, barbeque and, let's face it, a decent cowboy!

Awww Neglus - You should see the brand new brochure I just got from one of my suppliers from China. Absolutely beautiful - great product shots, fantastic layout, bright, good color combinations... As someone who use to create these things for people I have to say, it's stunning. Problem is that the first page is the most inarticulate and horrendously spelled company introduction I have ever seen.
If I judged them on that intro I would never buy from them. Luckily I look past it.... Their products are wonderful and I get a 600% mark up on them.
On the otherhand... I think once I get up an running down south, they are going to be one of the first companies I approach regarding native english web translation

Please forgive the interference of this former band-geek.....
A few things one might want to consider before anyone feels too badly about letting what looks like a similiar instrument go for a "song".
The Bad:
1)It's listed in Civil War; however Dupont-Conn
wasn't established until 1876. (The Civil War was over in 1865 -- OOPS)
2)The word "LIBERATI" in the auction. Conn gave a jewel encrusted coronet to Alessandro Liberati. Hmmm...maybe they marketed a mouthpiece similiar to that one, or maybe the seller just wanted to attract brass players/collectors as well as CW buffs.
The Good:
1)the maker Dupont-Conn was THE trumpet/coronet manufacturer in the late 1800's
2)Check out the serial number. #173. This dates the instrument to 1876. The first year of production.
In other words, that's not just your everyday beat up coronet.
