At least 6 inches in our mountains overnight, stopped for 20 minutes, starting up again. It's just gorgeous here (So. CA mountains above Palm Springs), but the trees that haven't shed their leaves yet are pretty weighed down and are starting to lose limbs. One big oak branch came down 10 inches from one of our cars.
And. . . the power is off, and we're so glad we have solar. Last time, during fire season, when power was off, we went 8 days on the stored power in our solar batteries.
No TV cable, though, and it BETTER come back on tonight--a baseball game PLUS West Wing--and a good excuse to stay indoors. TV just doesn't get any better than this.
To relate this to Ebay and make this post legal--I'll have lots of indoor time today to do some listings!

It's sunny and in the mid-60's here. It feels like spring again! No power on Wednesday night would be awful. It would mean no Lost!
I'm looking forward to the first snowfall and that's it. The Jeep is going into the shop to get winterized on Friday. I just finished planting some bulbs and pulling up others. Now, on the raking the leaves. Yuk!

Snow already? One doesn't really think about snow when they think about Calif. Now where I live...Maine, we could have snow starting in October. It's been getting down into the 30's at night and 50's during the day. But they are saying that it is going to be seasonably warm this weekend. We can only hope.

cta: Our mountain ranges in Southern Calif. go to 10,000 - 12,000 feet, so there's snow during the rainy season (winter). This is early for us, though, and some winters we don't get much snow at all. We need the snowpack desperately for our drought, so we are not complaining.
And now the power's back on, too. NOw to check the cable TV. . . .

Gosh Roadsmith!!!!! SNOW???? In Ohio we are grateful if we DON'T have a first snowfall in October ... we hope it will be here for the holidays, then 'hope' it goes away LOL ... we have had unprecedented GORGEOUS summer and fall weather so far this year ... hope winter proves out to be the same .... the leaves here are just the beautiful PEAK of color right now!!!! Gotta love it.
Glad you got your cable and power back though ... that's important.
I hope FL is all restored with power from all the dreadful hurricanes they had ... I still think about the affected people down there often ... takes awhile to rebuild.

Sanmar,
We got your storm about an hour after it hit you. Over an inch of rain here also. After it passed us, it turned to 3 or 4 feet of very welcome snow in the Sierras.
