Can't anyone figure out how I can get a default template. Sonya told me to go to MY Account, custom Templates and chose the one I want and check "set as default" and save. However, there is no "Save" to click on to. Just "done" and that doesn't do it

After you customize your template and save it, you have to go into My Account: eBay Site Specifics and select it as your default.

Or, you may not have to go into your account to save the default template!
Bless your heart, I know what you're going through. I think the whole templates area is counter-intuitive and I had a lot of trouble doing some things there until I figured it out, with Sonya the Moderator's help.
Assuming you already have some templates in your "saved templates" list: You'll see that the default template is highlighted on the list, and the box underneath (for default template) is checked. UNCHECK that box, scroll to the template you want as your default, and check the little box. That should do it.
If you only have the one template in your list, it's a whole new story--you'll need to pick some more templates in the custom template section, SAVE them in the lower right corner, and then designate as I've suggested above.
