A customer who purchased from me before, and has a 100% rating, bought 5 different listings back in September. Didn't pay yet but promises to within next few weeks.

I'm not sure if it will happen but am thinking about leaving him 5 negs at the 90 day mark.

my reasons for not doing it right now... he PROMISES he will pay when his bonus comes in a couple of weeks. ALSO, if I leave him 5 negs, he might very well leave me 5 negs and, in my opinion, negs no matter how they're explained don't go over too well.

Is there a strict 90-day cutoff on leaving negs... If I leave them for him exactly 90 days after the auctions end, will the timeline be extended?

I wouldn't leave a neg. The 90-day time limit isn't exact.

Just start the non-paying bidder process.

I have a Newbie who won an auction of some dinner plates worth $66.00. The auction closed om 11/15/04. I have sent 2 reminders with no reply. I hate NPB's, but dammit, I can't wait forever for payment. My next step is to email through ebay & warn the buyer that the first feedback will be a negative. WhAT do think?

No, I wouldn't - I would have filed already for NPB, but why risk 5 retailiatory negatives?

I had one customer this week who threatened to leave me a negative if I did not leave them a positive for a transaction. After I reported them to ebay for feedback extortion, I told them that my recommendation was not to leave feedback at all, but if they want to exchange negative feedback (They have been around for 3+ years and have perfect feedback) then to fire away...5 days later, no negatives, so hopefully it won't happen. I wonder sometimes if people are buying things or if they are just purchasing with the intent of getting feedback...

What does it benefit you to leave a neg? This is business after all, not dodge-ball. You hit first, he'll hit back. Who is the neg going to hurt more, you as a seller, or him as a buyer? You.

Just go with the NPB. That'll get him thrown off eBay sooner than your negs will.

well, of course, I agree with all of you and will not leave any negs. As for filing for non-payment, we're past that. Items ended mid-september. I didn't file them in time because this was a repeat customer and he promised payment. My loss; I'll relist on FLD!

I just went through a very simular situation. The 90 day thing is in stone according to a real live living human being at ebay that I spoke with at length. If the $ doesn't come through... at the last stroke of the clock I would neg the buyer. Don't give him any time to retaliate but let the rest of us know that he is a bum... my feelings on the subject. I mean he buys it in September!!!! and still says I will pay you get a grip this IS a business. Would Sears have sent his name in to Equifax... you bet they would!

The 90 days is not in stone. Try this:
