Go figure. I have the world's ugliest tv lamp/clock/planter that I listed this week and within 5 minutes it had a bid - before I could even go back in and revise the auction to put the patent dates on it.

Di (ltray) & I were out shopping together last week in a rare once a year trip and we both spotted this at the same time in the basket and I started saying "mine mine mine" before I even saw what it was.

Cowboy Cowgirl lamp/planter/clock. Butt Ugly. Even when I showed it to everybody else they all thought I was off my rocker for buying it. I said it was so tacky that somebody was bound to want it!

But please - don't email the bidder and tell him I said so!

I just had to look. Yes, that is one darn ugly lamp!

But you wrote such a nice description - I wish I had your flair. My descriptions are pretty straight to the point dull.

Hey, I like it! So homely I'd buy it in a minute if I saw it somewhere. One question: I'm assuming it's metal? I see mention of a brass ring around the clock face but couldn't spot the basic composition of this.

I think the shade adds a lot to the presentation, too. What does all this tell you about MY taste?! I like kitschy stuff, in moderation. A little kitsch lights up an otherwise staid room, I think.

whoops - I had it under Household lamps and lighting and moved it to the california pottery group to try and pick up the Wallace Western Westward Ho buyers.

Under lamps lighting it had composition ceramics.

But like I said, I can't edit the darned auction now...I had to add the 1954 patent date to one of the pics instead of the auction because I stopped to eat supper.

I have one those Van Teal lamps up for bid this week too...quite a few "watchers" but no bidders

Key words. It's all about the Key Words.

Hi Glassgrl,
I thought that once you did have a bid on an auction that you can go into Ebay and add info but it won't be up in the key paragraph but further down the page.

You're all right ... the uglier or more 'unique' something is, the more I want to get it to put it on ebay ...

Glassgrl; I was checking out your VanTeal lamp and it's really weird on the last two photos (where you show the 2 lamps side by side), when you click to enlarge, it seems to zoom in on your 1st photo, instead of 2-lamps photo ... ??? no big deal, but i thought it was odd?

I remember when you showed us the lucite lamp last month, and a bunch of us were looking up how MUCH they go for on ebay ... back then i was thinking, 'hey self, we have an ugly lucite lamp at the shop that we couldn't GIVE away for $5 at our big sale this summer' ... so I put it on ebay last month, started it at $29.99, and it ended at $110 ...... lol

Thanks aintrichyet, I had to edit my html to include those two photos. when I let VD do it the pics ended up at the bottom of the page. I worked for a half hour yesterday trying to isolate that script and copy & paste it correctly and ooops, I left out changing the url in part of the script. I'd copied it from the first photo which is why it went to that one when you enlarged. All fixed now

Good price on that lamp.

here bidder bidder bidder............

glasgrl-to be honest I didnt think it was all that ugly. However when you come down to the fine print-thats really small-I can hardly read it-you should enlarge it.Then again is it just my computer??

glassgrl -- I don't think it's ugly at all. As a matter of fact, those that collect western items, would love it. Is that mother-of-pearl inlaid in the center of the clock?

You really do have a flare for the details and I thought I gave long descriptions? But I think it really helps to sell higher on most items.
I am surprised that your Van Teal doesn't have a bid. Maybe you should pop eames in the title???

done thanks. I think everything is listed as Eames these days and I don't have a clue as to what all it encompasses - but it can't hurt to try it on for size.
