I am originally English, and thought I knew a lot about English china, but I can't find anything about this company. The item is a very large blue and white platter, 18" x 14". As you see, the logo says Stafford Gallery, Opaque China. I can find nothing about it on the internet. The platter belonged to my Grandmother who was born in 1870, I am guessing she got it when she married in 1890.
I am hoping someone has a book with something about the company, possible value etc. It does have some discoloration, but no chips or cracks, some age crazing.
The Stafford Gallery Opaque China mark also had P.W. & Co on it and that is Podmore, Walker & Co.
Tunstall Staffordshire, England Earthenware.
Printed, various patten names 1834-1859 (1834-present)
Subsequently Wedgwood & Co
It's a beautiful platter, no idea of the value though.

Thank you so much Kiara, that really helps. I guess it could be described as "rare", not a word I use very often in my descriptions. The dates would certainly be about right, for all I know, it could have belonged to my great Grandmother first. I wish I had some idea of value, I don't know if I should put a reserve on it.
Mine doesn't have the P.W. & Co mark on it, just and indented "18".

I just checked the current and completed auctions for 'blue white platter' and I see a few that are somewhat similar so that may give you an idea of value. I haven't checked in ages but I remember being surprised at how high some of them sold for even with chips and cracks or with stains.
Blue and white transferware has always been one of the best sellers so hopefully it will do really well as there are probably very few, if any, ever offered that are exactly like yours. I use reserves quite often and if someone is serious about buying an unusual piece, they will always bid. Good luck with it.
