A well to-do woman in her later years (60's) was in back of me in line at the post office yesterday. I had a stack of about 7 addressed boxes. She says
"do you sell things on ebay"
I say "yes"
She says "can you make any money doing it?"
I say "this top box has a board game that I sold for over $200, Pollyanna"
She says (when she gets her jaw back in place) "Your kidding, right?"
I say "No, it's fun and easy when you get a handle on it"
This woman left the post office in a daze and actually waited for me in the parking lot to further quiz me. We talked for about 10 minutes and I left with her phone #, she wants me to sell a train set for her. Bottom line is there is still lots and lots of people who will have stuff in thier driveways for sale in the summer months just for us ebay sellers! It aint over yet!

Oh, they know about it, they just don't want to be bothered with it. That's fine, I depend on that to make a living! I actually got business cards printed up (free ones of course) with info about an ebay consulting business. That way, I can answer a couple of questions, give my card and either never hear from them again, or possibly do business with them. I'm not interested in giving out too much information, especially about what I specifically sell. You would be surprised what questions people have the nerve to ask!

I for one, think the supply will never end!! Of course I do antiques & collectibles, so it maybe different for me.
ebayvet - that is a good idea but do you sell for others or just buy from them? I don't like selling for others. It's just too hard. Much easier to buy it out right and resell it myself.

Well, the ones that look they have money I find are the worst to work with. Now that they think a board game is worth $200--good luck trying to get her to understand the fees you charge rather than free and that the train set she has is a common electric Marx and not a more sought after pre-WWI windup American Flyer.
Ever been to a garage sale where the house is huge and oppulent? All house and nuttin' in 'em. Some of the wealthiest people I know don't flaunt it.
Still can make a few bucks for yourself but for others......too much to explain....too many variables.......too much hassle.
