Here are some pics of puppies that have been posted on line that are for sale that might help. Still think it is a Shih Tzu - not a Cavalier King Charles. Ears are too short for a Cavalier.

I think you are right - the eyes are too bug-eyed for a Cavalier. Thanks all - too bad I couldn't list because of image hosting problem maybe tomorrow night.

I'm thinking Japanese chin. I had a Shih Tzu before and he doesn't have quite that ball of fluff look. This one doesn't have the hair that always sticks up in Lhasa a Shih Tzu puppies that obscures the eyes a bit.
Those huge eyes on this one (that the artist seemed to mirror in the frog) with the whispy ear tufts, and that really short nose say Japanese Chin to me.

Most definitely a Shih Tzu. I am trying to find some of Oliver's "baby" pictures now. Some of you may remember when I got in back in February and posted photos - he was a ball of black and white fluff

Sorry, i was about as clear as mud in that statement. I meant the dog on the post card isn't quite as fluffy
as a Shih Tzu. The hair on the dog in the photo seems finer than a Shih Tzu.
Shih Tzu puppies run a close second to Lhasa
Apso puppies for the cuddliest, most adorable critters on earth.
IMHO, of course ....
The dog in the post card is cute, but not THAT cute.

Dog Expert here..... The picture is a Japanese chin. Eyes are round and slightly protruding...Colors are generally black and white. A Shih Tzu has more of an Almond shaped eye and would most likely have more color on the body. Ears are short so it rules out the King Charles.
Very cute babies in all of these photos.

Also a clue is the Apple Head and the high "Stop" (bridge of the nose).

have you ever seen an Afghan puppy? Now that is one ugly puppy! I got one once and thought it was a labrador or something.

The amphibian in the first picture is a frog. Toads are lumpy. Frogs are kissed, toads go in the cauldron.

Your right about the lumpy toad and kissing Frogs. I kissed a frog once and waited many years for him to turn into a prince. I kissed him so much I got warts on my lips, so now I know I made the mistake of kissed the toad instead of a frog. I sure won't make that mistake again.

I've seen some bambinos that would not only curl yer toe-hairs, but also pose a serious danger to dairy products!
Of course, Ralphie was a BEAUTIFUL BABY!

the ugly pup grew into a gorgeous afghan. but geez, they are ugly puppies! they look just like labs with long skinny tails.
also, afghans have no brains. if you'll notice, they have skinny little heads. meaning not much room for brains. although I did discover that my afghan would be laying in the room when I left the house (I had one of those hidden videos set up because my ex was breaking in is how I discovered this) and as soon as I left, he'd look out the window...run over, check the counters for loose food, and run and jump on the couch. the minute he'd hear my car pull up when I got home...he'd run back over to the exact same spot he was in when I left the house! So I thought that he was a good dog but he was smart enough to figure all that out!
