For some reason, my customers keep getting overcharged for shipping. I think it must have something to do with the way I set up vendio checkout shipping options, but I'm thinking maybe I just can't use vendio checkout. Its confusing the heck out of me!
I want to be able to charge varying shipping charges for each item, but I also want to be able to specify the additional shipping price, also varying for each item. Does that mean I can't do via Vendio unless I have a strict percentage relationship between first and additional shipping charges or a set dollar amount difference?
I wish they gave more guidance on this stuff.
Thanks in advance!

I never use Vendio checkout for that reason. I put the shipping charges in my TOS. I use weight & Zone 8 for all items. I use $5.00 for a minimum charge which includes insurance. I send an invoice through eBay & specify the shipping charges on it. Everything I ship is insured, I don't give an option to go without insurance. Never have any complaints.

Sounds like you need to check your handling that is set up on Vendio if you feel you are overcharging.
Here's what I do and it's worked well for me so far.
I add a flat rate handling fee on all my auction of xx cents. If the item requires special treatment (odd size box etc) I add a pound or so to the weight. That way I never have to adjust for each item.
You can do a % but that doesn't work in my case as I live on the east coast. Wasn't fair to charge a high % for calculed priority just because they live in Calif. or the west coast.

emstacey -- When you are writing up your listing, are you changing the shipping weight and dimensions in the calculator when you list? I don't use the shipping calculator, but I do have changes in my shipping depending on what I am shipping. I have it set to charge $1.00 shipping normally, but if the book is heavier, I change that when I am writing up the listing.

I'm shocked, shocked to hear of so many sellers charging for handling! You should only charge actual postage and do all the packing on your own time, which is worth nothing. Shame on you for exploiting the poor Lladro, etc. collectors who can't afford to buy new!
