I was wondering - does anyone else have the problem of nonpaying bidders leaving negative feedback? I am quite upset that a non-paying bidder left me negative feedback (and it does bring down my total percentage) for no reason! How can ebay allow that to happen? Anyone else have or had this problem? Is there anyway I can contact ebay to fix this?

It all depends upon how you dealt with the situation. Did you threaten leaving a neg if they didn't pay? If so, that is your first mistake. Never ever do that. Keep it simple and professional.

Assume your time frame has passed for payment. Then you should send an e-mail asking when you will receive payment. Do Not Threaten. If no reponse in two days. File your NPB. Do Not E-mail. Wait the 9 days and if no payment, file your FVF and then neg. This works well and your chance of retailitory negs falls to nearly zero.

I never threatened negative feedback. I send a non-paying bidder alert and he left negative feedback. He says he went and purchased the item somewhere else (he told me a different story). My point was, why does ebay allow non-paying bidders to leave negative feedback - they bid and didn't pay!

I agree with you, this is a really annoying problem about ebay's feedback - It really isn't done fairly. Someone who has had FVF done on them should not be able to leave feedback. Well, they can leave it, but it should be removed when a FVF is filed. That is only fair. Unless that is done, I do what I can to avoid negative feedback. That means I will not leave negative feedback if they don't pay (but I will file to get my fees back) - I never leave feedback first, so if I get an undeserved negative, I give them a negative right back. I then wait a little while, and offer them the chance to withdraw. To date, 4 out of 4 have agreed to withdraw. My suggestion is to leave a negative if you haven't already, then make the offer to do a mutal withdraw.

The least that eBay could do is to add something at the top of the fb page to let a potential buyer know that the seller has "X" number of postives, neutrals & negs with a notation that "X" number of negs were left by non-paying bidders. The negs eventually get buried & a seller would have to go digging to see a response to a neg.
But the ideal way is obviously to block a non-paying bidder from leaving fb.

I ususally put this in the payment instructions and I have NEVER had a NPB

Seller's payment instructions:
Buyer to get in touch in 3 days .I accept Paypal,Bidpay, checks and cash. Please remit payment within 14 days,or non paying bidders will be negged--PLUS I will send the mother-in-law round to stay at your house for one week , be afraid , be very afraid.
