the worst part is that I don't have a picture of it now. I am hoping that someone here knows what I am talking about. It is a cross that has like a little a little "peep hole" in the center. If you look into the hole (it is really tiny) and look into light you can see what I think is the lords prayer. I have not read it but took a quick glance. I am thinking that there is a name for these things but I am not sure what it is. I will try to post a pic on Monday but curiosity is killing me and I want to research it a bit and do not know where to begin.
Thanks so much!!

It is a Stanhope. The image you see through the lens is a microphotograph. If it is Victorian there are avid collectors for them. I think photographs are more collectibles than the prayer but good pictures should bring out the collectors.

I have one of those and yes it is the Lord's Prayer inside. I have no idea what they are called but by the looks of mine it is probably from the 50's. It measures about 2 to 2 1/2 inches high and about 2 inches wide. Maybe try searching Lords Prayer and include that in the description and see what you get.

Mine did not look like the one in the last link posted...however in the link listed above for the book it looks similar to the white crucifix on the bottom of the cover of the book. I do not have it here I will have to look closer at it and inside. Thanks for your help you guys are great. I also have a cane handle but I am unsure of the metal. It looks like gold...any suggestions on how to determine if it is gold or not?? I will post pics of both Monday.
Thanks
