This question should go on the thread about my parents but it's a new situation and I wanted to get some expert advice before I advise them
This involves one of these hot items again. The person, 0 feedback, signed up today, bids on my parents item and wins. 14 minutes later he bids on another of another brand, same thing though, and wins that one. He emails my dad and tells him that since it's not the brand he wanted to just cancel his "order". My dad's listing is concise and presice, it says exactly what brand it is right in it. The newbie didn't read.
I checked into his history, his registered date, etc. I typed up an email for my dad to send him, telling him it's a binding contract, blah blah blah, pointed him to the UID policy, etc.
He just received an email from this person who wants to know if he can work something out, to pay his fees or "something".
Should my dad have him pay his listing fees, but not final value since he can get that back in 7 days? or does he have to wait the 7 days, can he file the UID?
Advice please.
And I feel like such a dork typing UID ~ I always have to recheck it and make sure I'm not typing IUD ;o)

I've never done it, but some people charge a "restocking" fee just to teach the guy a lesson.

neglus's suggestion of a restocking fee is very fair. Letting someone off the hook by refunding your fees pays you nothing for your time & trouble of listing, then filing & listing again.
I would point this out to the newbie so as to straighten him out right from the start.

Tell him to pay the listing fee and leave Pos. feedback.
After this is done Dad can end with a mutual agreement.
No one will get hurt and Dad gets his FVF refund immediately.
End of story.

This is no newby. Don't let this loser off of the hook what so ever. If this were a true newby, they wouldn't have a clue about paying fees or any other BS like that. Pay up or you get a big fat NPB and FVF. Also relist the item asap so you can get a sale. The bid was likely from a competitor removing your father from the loop.
