Had my item listed and sold via Fixed Price. Guy paid with the flat-rate shipping/handling I specified.
Then I get the email telling me that the amount he paid is enough to ship it UPS and all but ordering me to do so tomorrow and send him the UPS tracking number.
I rarely, if ever, use UPS... but I'm just amazed at the audacity of this guy, telling me what to do. ARGH!

Tell him UPS will cost $5 extra handling because you will have to stand in line for at least 1/2 hour.

I've got a newbie seller with 0 feedback that I bought two items from. Then he emails me saying they are out of one of them and what do I want to do?
What do I want? I want him to deliver the two items I paid for!

Well, with UPS, I just have to drop it at a local PakNShip type store. But I do have to provide a box for it -- I do mostly Priority Mail so I get free boxes.

I would not give in on this one. Occasionally I over-estimate grossly on shipping costs for an item and will refund a dollar or two after shipping the item. But that's a very rare occurence.
Wouldn't it be great if Ebay cautioned newbies that shipping terms are not to be negotiated?

Yeah, I'm not giving in -- that was never in question.
Just couldn't believe his attitude.

Good thing no one here is your seller. Hopefully the one you have has the good sense to return your payment and demand that you live up to the commitment you make when you place a bid.

That he is an idiot and that both of you are among a sellers worst nightmare. You seem to think you can dictate your own terms to people and that twit is letting you get away with it which just makes you believe that you are somehow in the right.

Stopwhining; what gives you the right to decide how much the shipping charges should be? If I were thre seller, I wouldn't ship until I received the total amount. I just bought 3 orders of Omaha Steaks. The shipping was $9.99 per order. One went to NJ & the other 2 to WA. Do you think they would ship if I only paid them $6.00 per shipment? I don't think so.

I agree with Fenix and Sanmar-Im not debating if he was trying to rip you off for the shipping-alot of sellers do that. But when you bid you agree to the selling price AND shipping terms. If you think the shipping is too high you shouldnt have bid.

Well, I went ahead and shipped the item USPS. Oddly, it took two days to get to a rural location in the same state -- and then he didn't pick it up at his local P.O. until the THIRD DAY.
SO HE NEGS ME for slow shipping! I shipped the very first day after he paid and the USPS got it there before Christmas.
And he keeps emailing me with these longwinded messages about how I am a horrible seller because I didn't honor his shipping requests, blah blah blah.
I've told him to stop sending me email or I would report him for harrassment. Is there an address at ebay I can do this?

This is the reason why I will not leave feedback first anymore. What a moron! I would neg back, let him think about it for a day and place an offer to withdraw feedback.

When I'm buying, I always check the shipping price first. If it's resonable and I really want the item, then I bid on it. Even if the shipping is slightly more than than actual.
But, if the shipping is something like $5 or $9 "shipping and handling" and I know darn well it will go with less than a dollar's postage, I don't bother.
I know we as sellers have to pay for tape, packing supplies, gas to drive to the post office, eBay fees, PayPal fees, etc, but it's all part of the price of doing business. I make sure there's enough profit in the item to cover expenses. Large mail order companies seem to be able to get away with charging a big handling fee, but for some reason eBay buyers won't put up with it.
On a sidenote, for a couple of weeks I added the shipping price to the item's opening bid and advertised free shipping (worked out the the same as the regular price plus shipping). Didn't go over to well. I went back to the regular price plus the shipping being extra, and all was good again.

It's a pretty easy process, both have to agree to do it, and they have 90 days or something like that to decide

Thanks, you two. Sometimes I wish I could take the time to explore EVERYthing Ebay has in its bag of tricks. I seem to just go to the same parts of Ebay I always use and miss a lot in the process.
