I just discovered that I have a postcard listed of the Titanic under construction but of course I didn't realize it until after there were bids placed. I found a similar postcard listed outside of ebay for $300 (mine is selling for $16.99 with 4 bids) - and I think mine is OLDER!
Can I cancel bids and relist? If I add TITANIC to mu listing at this point is it searchable? I am thinking in the very least of changing to a featured plus item....

Cancel and re-list! If you feel generous, tell the highest bidder now that you'll provide them with 10% off if they are the winning bidder on the new auction.
Whaddya think about that idea?

Here's one on eBay asking 300.00
Cancel your bids & relist, I would.
You might even want to watch this one & see if it sells.

mcjane... There is a big difference between SELLING a card for $300 and LISTING it in the store for $300.
The thing might be worth pennies. You can list for whatever you want.
But yes, I'd cancel the old auction and re-list. It most likely is worth a lot more with that information in the title.

I'd let it go since you have bidders.
If you notice it's not going up to the real value, then as it nears the end, you can still cancel the bids and the auction and then relist.
Give it a chance.

By all means, nuke the auction and list it again with a corrected description. It's the same as if you discovered it was inadvertantly misrepresented to the bidder's disadvantage. In this case, it's misrepresented to your disadvantage. Relist with all the facts you know in the description.

Thanks all - I cancelled and will relist. I won't expect $300 for it but want to at least list it properly. I didn't think to jot down the names of the bidders and now I dont have the ability to contact them!!
I should add that the highest price I ever got for a postcard was $460 and it was another Titanic under construction pc. I can't believe that I didn't figure out that was what this one was about!

replay, your right, didn't realize it was listed in their store. Could take a loooong time to watch that one.
But, still a good idea for neglus to correct & relist her card.

How could it be listed in the store with bids? Stores are Fixed Price only, correct?

Thanks all for the help and support. The auction ended well. I felt guilty cancelling the other auction but hopefully the bidders will understand. Perhaps they were true Titanic collectors and would have bid the item up to the final sales price anyway, but who knows?
I think the $20 I spent for a featured item was money well spent! I got over 500 hits and probably realized some cross-sales because of it.
I think my marketing plan for 2005 will include listing one featured item/month for 10 day listing.

I'm going to be nosy here and ask how much the postcard brought. You don't have to say if you don't want to!

It brought $311 (in the final seconds)!!! I am so glad I realized the error in time!

Wow! Aren't you glad that you caught your error and relisted? The winning bidder is probably doing a happy dance at finding such a rare card...you never know, they may have been searching for this very card for years.
Congrats, BTW.

I'm so glad for you, neglus! That is wonderful! I've never featured an item before, but perhaps I'll add to my business plan one featured item a month to strengthen my name in my category and bring cross sales. That's a really good idea!
