Take a look at this eBay store, especially the left hand navigation section under "store categories".
There are WAY more than the usual 19 categories here. It looks like she set up a bunch of custom searches... How did she get them in there and replace the usual store links?

i think that's how they did it - I haven't had time to look at it yet.

Store items only show up in a regular search when there are 10 or less auction items listed. And then the store items are listed in lowest priced first order.

Libra, what jake said is correct. If you are asking this in regards to my post about setting up custom search links, you CAN set it to just search your store.
If someone clicks on "Monopoly Games" in my store, they see the 30-40 versions I have for sale, not the million or so through all of eBay.

Sorry for the delay but I was at my daughters computer when I asked the question. Thanks for the answer. I will have to check into this more.

I'm switching to an eBay Store from a Vendio Storefront because I think, from researching (and lurking on this forum), that my sales will improve. My question is: must I be running active ebay auction listings for my store items to be visible? I've been busily changing over my Vendio Store inventory to eBay Store items but none have appeared in my ebay store yet. I have no auction listings running at this time, as I want to complete this changover before I relist. Am I doing something wrong?

shething ... i'm not positive that you HAVE to have active auctions, but i CAN tell you that when you first open your store and are putting things in it, it takes ebay quite a while to actually index them in ... you will see your items probably later today.

Thanks, estatesalestuff. I started last night with an item or two before I went to bed and there's still no sign of them or the Catagories I created for my store. I couldn't find any mention in the Store manager of how long it would be before the store was active. I was beginning to wonder what I was doing wrong! I'll give it a bit longer. Thanks again!

No, you don't HAVE TO have auction items. Here's the way it works.
1) If someone searches for an item on eBay's main search, auctions and fixed price listing are shown. If there are LESS THAN 10 search matches, store items will show up. If there are 10 OR MORE search result, they will skip the stores.
2) If they search in stores.ebay.com (or whatever it is), then all stores are searched completely.
3) If you give out your stores URL to someone, they go to your store with a "search MY store" search box.
Bottom Line:
So if you sell very unique items where most searches will have less than 10 matches, then you are in great shape. If you sell really common stuff like books, movies or videogames, the store may not be of much use.
As has been suggested, sometimes it's good to run "teaser" items, really popular items at a giveaway price. Somewhere in the auction you have a LOOK AT MY STORE link.
You can also submit your eBay store items to Froogle, which doesn't hurt either.

Shething, it does take a few hours for a new store to open. Once you get it going, new items show up in the store pretty quickly, although still not instantly.

Well, replay, my items are not exactly unique to ebay, but I felt as though some of them were just languishing in my Vendio store and the store was getting few hits.
I know when I'm searching ebay for a certain item, I check out the seller's ebay store while I'm at it. The ebay store is proimently displayed in the auction listing, where as the vendio store logo is almost hidden, and ebay doesn't allow much leeway there. I've tried...they notified me of infractions. The link you're allowed to put in the auction description must go to your other ebay auctions, and even though it directs the bidder to the vendio store and a list of current auctions, it doesn't seem to entice them into the actual store listings. I've decided to make the change. Besides, my vendio store URL uses the "shething" ID and I'm trying to establish the ebay ID I've been using for almost a year. Vendio wants $25 to change my ID! Forget that!
