On the Google home page, how do I clear the search history? Like if you type in P it auto gives a list of everything you have ever entered that started with a P.

Its not Google, it's Internet Explorer. Pull down the TOOLS menu, choose OPTONS, and click the tab for CONTENT. There's a button there for AUTOCOMPLETE.
Fiddle with that until you get the results you want.

By the way, my husband told me something about Google this morning. His favorite search site used to be Ask Jeeves but then it went down. Now it's connected to Google (in some way I don't understand), and you can go to Ask.com and get information that wasn't previously available through Google itself. He found references to an early 1900s lawyer in L.A. even in a book by Frank Baum (author of the Oz books). He's writing a history and needed some further information.
He also said Google is going to scan the entire contents of 5 or 6 major libraries, like the NY public library; it'll take about 6 years but will add huge amounts of stuff to their searches.

Yes Roadsmith you are right. I heard this last week that there is a new scanner that will scan whole pages and that google was going to start putting whole books on the internet.
Interesting also is that two young men developed google and I think they did a great job.
