yell at them when they walk by and put PREPAID packages on the end of the counter?

I just did! 3 women were in line, I do what I always do, walk past and put the boxes on the end (as the workers there have told me to) and I here an 'EXCUSE ME!!!!' in a very sarcastic tone, then another one, I turn around, and they are all yelling at me to get in line!! I said these are prepaid and was going to go on, but the clerk says 'they are fine right here' I said 'thank you' and they were still shaking their heads and giving me dirty looks, all the way to the car! ack! never have we had that happen, even when the line was out the door at Christmas rush!

Anyone else..geeez didn't want to get into a knock down drag out with one of those women!
I wasn't 'taking any of the clerks business' away from anyone, or cutting in line! I just dunno..

Near - check with your post office and ask them if you can drop stuff off at the dock. With my old company we often had 5 or 10 bins a day of stuff to drop off. Since everything was already postaged we werte able to just pull up to the dock in the back and drop everything off. Our post office even kept a couple of the big canvas carts out out on the dock for package drops. Was great for customers since they did not have to wait in lines and such and great for their clerk because they were not taking time out transporting packages to the back and such when they could be dealing with customers.

One of the new post offices I deal with has one of the self serve postage "Counter/Machine" (has computer screen, scale, the whole shebang .... insert credit card, add package, print label, dump in bin). If yours has one of those you should be able to just pop your packages in the bin.

BTW - If you think you piss off the old women... imagine how the ones behind me in line who think nothing of the woman with the gym bag until she starts pulling anywhere from 60 - 100 small internaional packages out all which the clerk has to individually process.

If it's really "common" sense, why do so few people actually have it?

fenix, thanks, I think we'll try that! Right now, they have a door before you go into the 'customer' part, its in the Lobby, and they told us to call right before, and ring the bell, and they'd take them. Things have slowed down now with the boots, but we do get at least 4 or 5 a day to ship.

Yes! we have the self service P.O. too. NO ONE ever uses it, they stand in line, even if it takes an hour, some with ONE ENVELOPE! We also have a giant bin we can use, but I jammed it too many times that we try to stay away from it! LOL!

Yeah and how bout these people who bring in an item, and have the clerk package it for them? that drives me nuts when I see that! (though I never stand in line anymore ) But come on people. AND at Xmas time, when I was 'walking through' there was someone WRAPPING A GIFT in Xmas paper, THEN having the clerk box it! I just dunno.....

::Yeah and how bout these people who bring in an item, and have the clerk package it for them?::

None of the ones I know will do it. They point to a blank spot on the counter and tell the person they can prepare their package their and then come back to their window when they are done. I think they finally got sick of being treated like a packaging store.
