Mark and I are going to list two of his small sculptures for auction on eBay, with the proceeds going toward tsunami relief. One will benefit the Red Cross and another will benefit one of the children's organizations. (They both are original, one-of-a-kind and have won awards.)
Do we pay fees to list these? Has anyone else done this before? We feel the need to help. (But for the grace of God, it could be us...)

I believe you have to register it with eBay and this takes some time so you will probably have to pay the fees. I tried to set up a charity auction once and finally gave up.

These will be listed on eBay through "MissionFish", listed under the Red Cross and Unicef. We aren't starting our own organization or anything like that. We are donating the items to/for that organization. I was hoping they wouldn't make it a big PITA for us to give.
I noticed some people donate 100% of the proceeds. I would hope they don't have to pay auction fees.
edited because I can't spell today!

Here's a real contrast for you--Ebay keeping its zillions and a retired architect friend of mine in Bangkok doing his part. My pal goes there for a few months every year to help wherever he can because he loves the Thai people, and he's been over there a month or so. I e-mailed to make sure he was okay after the tsunami hit. Here's what he replied:
"....thanks for being concerned about me.....I am in Bangkok and not many kilometers from harm's way....but not on the Andaman sea to the west. I am deluged by emails of friends who want to know if I'm still my fiesty self and I do so appreciate your concern......I am busy working at an orphanage with the HIV babies and toddlers....they have wormed their way into my heart and have become family to me......the older ones seem amazed at the not-Thai that comes out of my mouth but I am busily teaching them English.....or confusion.......but anyway, we do love each other a lot. I take them outdoors to play as many have never been outside before and they are stunned by everything that there is to look at......
"The orphanage is on the corner so the buses, motorbikes, taxis, trucks and cars in the 6-lane street are a constant source of amazement.....and pollution too I suppose, we watch as if it were all a TV program with thin plot........anyway, they are being stimulated and that's the point. I feed bottles, hug, teach walking, play balloon games and occasionally blow bubbles for their amusement. In between, I shop and sightsee and go to museums and visit with friends in this delightful place."
