Here is eBay's latest "Thank You" gesture to sellers.

Great! I can see this being open to potential abuse by short-tempered perfectionnist impatient newbies, etc.

Well, at least they changed it from 17 days back to 30 after listening to all of us gripe! I think an "item not received" process should be done after 30 days! What's the problem?

I guess it depends if people abuse it. If someone knows it's there, they might use take advantage of it even if they got the item to see if they can get their money back AND keep the merchandise. Just a thought. Anyone run into buyers that abuse it?

I love the part where the buyer can wait to pay until the 9th day and then start the process on the 10th day. I can see it now, I sent the money order yesterday and I still don't have my item...a few days later they up the dispute to an eBay Standard Purchase Protection Program claim. Oh boy! What fun! Next ebay will probably do away with their $25 fee for processing and off we go...

If you think ebay hates you so much, why contribute to them. Teach them a lesson damnit...stop selling!

I don't believe disagreeing with an eBay policy is the same as thinking eBay hates sellers.

Again I have to ask - why do you care?

If you ship your orders and you use DC then all you have to do is provide ebay with the tracking info. Why is everyone so up in arms about the mere existance of this policy? Please be note that this is at least the third thread where someone has bitched about it's existance yet we are still yet to hear a story of it being abused.

Since we all know full well that there are less than honest sellers around I was wondering if you could explain why it is you think that bidders do not deserve access to the same type of process against sellers that we as sellers have against bidders.

As for the "hates sellers" comment... I guess I have just lost patience with people who continually, post after post, #*!@ about ebay and the way it operates and yet continue to use it. If you resent them so much and feel they have so little respect for you.... LEAVE! If on the otherhand you realize hat there is more good than bad, then stop trying to find new things to b*tch about. You are only making yourself more miserable.

fenix03,
Who stomped on your tail today??? You seem to be in a rather bad mood. I was just commenting on the fact that I did not agree with ebay on the upcoming implementation of this process.

<<Please be note that this is at least the third thread where someone has bitched about it's existance yet we are still yet to hear a story of it being abused.>> Of course we have not heard of the policy being abused. It doesn't exist yet. It's due to be introduced in the early part of 2005, possibly next week. All comments at this point are mere speculation about the potential for abuse. I personally have no problem with the proposal. It would be a different story though if I were in the habit of selling internationally and waiting for the customer to mail a money order, and then shipping surface where no tracking is available. Since the new rules apply to international sales as well, about the only way I can see for a seller to protect himself against a foreign scammer, (assuming there is such a thing) Is to demand payment via Bidpay and ship Global Express.

The same can be said about Vendio and using their discussion boards to promote another service.

I am going to go out on a limb here and predict once the policy does go into effect that many sellers will stop accepting PayPal just to protect themselves. I know I am going to have to think long and hard about it.

Ralphie said a MONTH ago that this "policy" makes PayPal even more RISKY!

Take a gander at this GEM(?):

Better Integration with PayPal -- The Item Not Received process will make it easier for buyers who paid with PayPal to initiate a claim if they’re unable to resolve the problem with the seller. At this stage, the process will take buyers directly to the PayPal Web site, where they can initiate a claim under PayPal Buyer Protection . PayPal will determine if the claim is eligible for coverage and will pay the claim directly based on their criteria or the eBay Standard Purchase Protection Program .

GT - If you have a problem with me telling people that there is a viable and superior alternative to Vendio when they are up in arms with it's various shortcomings I'm sorry. Fact is I used to use Vendio a couple years ago. When i found that it did not serve my purpose, I found something that did. I didn't sit here and gripe about it. If there was something better than ebay I would reccommend it to others just as I have reccommended to those who can to at least examine selling on the international sites since I have found it to be more financially beneficial.

The difference between those who constantly complain about ebay and my posts about Works or International selling is that least I am offering a postive alternative that is intended to possibly help someone.

"The difference between those who constantly complain about ebay and my posts about Works or International selling is that least I am offering a postive alternative that is intended to possibly help someone."

On two different threads people were discussing an eBay policy that they disagreed with and you came in both and threw a hissy fit about it. How dare anyone complain about the great and almighty eBay.

On the other hand, you regularly come onto the VENDIO discussion board, criticize VENDIO, promote their competition and openly recommend that everyone leave VENDIO and switch over to the one you use.

The difference is that on one you were the one complaining. Why don't you follow your own advise?

" I guess I have just lost patience with people who continually, post after post, #*!@ about ebay and the way it operates and yet continue to use it. If you don't like Vendio and you don't like it when someone says something negative about eBay.....LEAVE! But don't tell others to shut up and leave just because you don't like what they are talking about.
