I'm sure not. Still being bummed, the parents backed out of taking the kids for the first time in years!! But.........HAPPY NEWYEAR TO YOU ALL!! Drink lots of water before bed to help your hangovers!

Nah, I stick to water. I don't drink alcohol or caffeine. I spent New Year's Eve with my elderly parents, you never know how much longer they'll be around. We watched anything but a New Year's Countdown until the last five minutes.

Dick Clark gives a whole new meaning to the
"STROKE of midnight"...

But no. I can be goofy enough without drinking.

I've quit the caffeine as well. I can't believe the difference in how I feel once I got over the withdrawals. Gone are the heart palpitations and the shakiness from too much caffeine. I've actually learned to like decaf and caffeine-free Pepsi (hey, can't give everything up). I'll have an occasional glass of wine, but that's it. Even then I get punchy after one glass. I can be goofy and wild enough without it.

I was home with my kid. He thought I was a "tad" boring. We had (as he put's it) Children's wine. (sparking Apple Cider/cranberry juice) He loved using a wine glass.

powerwebmedia, It's nice to hear that you spent the new years with your parents. I wish mine were alive. It would be my dad's birthday. He was a new year's baby.

Dick Clark wasn't there but his show was. Didn't he have a stroke? Geez, we are all getting old UMGH I mean older (GRIN)

Sorry to hear you were sick! Both my daughter and granddaughter were sick a few days with it. So far I've not gotten it. I'll credit the massive doses of vitamins I'm taking for that. Since I've started taking 5 HTP, Omega 3's, Soy and other supplements, I've pretty much avoided a lot of ailments. I will admit though that it's a pain swallowing all those pills! The Omega 3's are horse pills! Hope you get better soon!!!!!

Cheryl I feel a little better today but I'm dried up like an old prunce, I drank NOTHING yesterday at all. My head hurts today but my stomach isn't really bothering me all that much. I don't feel like eating though. I never have ever thought of getting a flu shot before but afer this year I might think twice about it.

You really, really must get some fluids into you. Sounds like you are dehydrated. Believe it or not Pedialite (sp?) is the best thing for you. You can get the freezer pops and they're great when you're sick. Try drinking some tea if you can. It's important to get tons of fluids into you.

Helga ... I'm sorry to hear you're sick. If you can get Pedialite down, definitely try.

My little girl is sick too. She had a "wet" cough for a few days and is now running a fever. I have a call into the doctor. I always get concerned about pneumonia. She has asthma.

My boyfriend is sick too. My daughter is definitely worse off than my boyfriend but guess who's moaning, groaning and complaining? Yep! Men!!! My little girl hasn't complained at all and if I didn't notice that she looked pale, I wouldn't have even checked her temp.

I wish the doctor would call back ...

Happy New Year everyone!

Our friends purchased a nice restaraunt/bar this fall, so we watched the ball drop on a big screen tv while Dan played on his keyboard and sang. (Mark had surf n turf and I had Prime Rib.) We then met my daughter where she and her friends were, had a drink with them, then went to another friend's bar for a drink with them. Then a group of us went to Dan and Pam's for a nightcap. It was 3:15 when we got home. Now I KNOW I'm getting old!

replay- I got your joke

Helga- I had that a couple weeks ago...A real butt-kicker. The headache hung around longer than anything else. Drink LOTS of fluids and rest if you can.

Can anyone tell me what they see in that Simpson singer. Neither one in my estimation can sing but than again neither can I. Well I really can but never had a chance

I can't undersand, they have Dick Clark, well Regis, and all those young singers.

I thought Clay Akin, sp, did a great job also.

Bizzy - I don't know how old your daughter is but if she's over 10 years old, I would try some NAC - N-Acetyl Cysteine. It's an Amino Acid that they use for COPD and chest congestion. It REALLY breaks up the mucus so that you can get rid of it. I discovered by accident after I started taking it for liver function.

Oh, I see another one that says children 6-12 years old can take it too 3X a day.

I used to take Tylenol PM every night until I had a bad liver test come back. NAC was recommended for that and did work as my next liver test came back normal. I smoke so sometimes I have trouble getting rid of a cough after I have a cold, but not since finding this stuff.

Thanks for the link. I've bookmarked it. I get bronchitis (I smoke, too) and it looks like this stuff will help. Like I stated, I'm taking 5 HTP which helps with a lot of things but this looks as though it would go even further.

Libra, I watched the thing with Ashley Simpson and she sucked big time. We finally turned it over to the one hosted by Carson or whoever he was because my all time favorite group was going to be on. Duran Duran. After all these years I still love them. I guess I am just stuck on the 80's music era.

I actually stayed up until about 2 am. No drinking here either. Should have but not into the alcohol anymore.

Bless your heart for posting that link. NAC is exactly what I've been looking for.

A quick update on the house.
Outside, roof, gutters, doors, windows & siding finished.
Inside, rough wiring, rough plumbing, gas heater, humidifier, humidistat, AC, hot water heater, fireplace & wall board are in. On Monday the plasterers start, will take a week. After that the good stuff begins, wood trim, hardwood floors, kitchen & bathrooms & all plumbing & lighting fixtures.

Been a long time, almost a year & a half, but we're getting there.
You have been a comfort & a great help through all this. My heartfelt thanks to you.

Jane

Thanks for the link, glassgrl. I'm not sure the congestion is in her chest. I did hear back from the doctor and am doing everything that was suggested. Trying to hang in there until tomorrow until she can see one of them in the practice. I'll feel better once of the doctors sees her and listens to her chest. She's still running a high fever, but tylenol/ibuprofen gets it back down again. I find that ibuprofen works better for a fever, but in the morning, I give her tylenol so that her stomach doesn't get upset. Oh ... BTW ... She will be 6 in two weeks.
