Then I'm going to sleep the year away and wake up for 2006.
First it started with my boyfriend getting sick. He is such a big baby when he gets sick. He had a COLD and acted like he was dying. Thank heavens he's feeling better and went to work today.
Then my little girl caught it. She's been running a 103 degree fever all weekend. She's home from school and sees the doctor this afternoon.
On the 1st, I received an e-mail threatening me with feedback extortion. It wasn't my fault she didn't read the entire listing. I wrote back an e-mail (with the help of a more experienced ebayer) hoping to smoother her ruffled feathers.
Then I received two e-mails from a customer stating that I took a "tone" with her and that I treated her like she's stupid. I use a large bold font when responding to e-mails because most of my customers are elderly and I do this as a courtesy. I also keep my responses simple. Jeez ...
If this is how it's going to be this year, I will crawl into a hole and wait for 2006.
Diane
Oops ... It IS 2005 ... I want it to be 2006! See how frazzled I am!

I started out the new year a day behind, so know how you feel!
I hope your little girl will be feeling better soon - I know how it is to have a little one around when you have work to do. Plus when little ones are sick, it's hard to concentrate on anything else because moms always worry (I know I do when my little boy is sick).
Hope things turn out well with the difficult buyer - no doubt you handled it like a pro and explained everything to her

I thought it was just me that thought "OMG 2005 is not starting out good"!
I had 2 emails yesterday from Paypal telling me that 2 buyers had paid for their auctions and when I went in to my Paypal account to print the packing slip, I noticed that neither one paid for shipping! What the heck?? I refunded both (newbies) with a note of the correct amount due. Both of these bidders had to take the shipping amount out of the checkout box, so I have decided to change my preferences to NOT let the bidder adjust the total. Now to wait and see what both of them do.
Bizzy...everyone in our family was sick right after Thanksgiving and everyone still has that darn cough.
I hope your daughter gets well soon, it can sure put a strain on you when the kiddies are sick but much more of a strain when the kids and an adult male are sick (men act like they are dying, I wonder if they realize how silly they act?).
Edited to add that I just got an email from one of the buyers, she wanted to know why the shipping for priority mail was SO expensive ($6.50 total for shipping) I explained that $3.85 is for the shipping, $1.30 was for the insurance, $.45 was for the delivery confirmation and $.90 was for the packing materials. This is the same person that I spoke of in the DUMB questions thread about the Cinderella salt and pepper set....why didn't she ask about the shipping before the auction was over instead of taking it upon herself to change my terms of sale?

I know how you feel Bizzy. I got a really bad cold and fever right after Christmas, and still have it. I have 150 auctions closing today from last Monday's 10 cent listing day. I woke up this morning with a migraine, and it's hard to even see, then my husband tells me that we are having visitors arrive at 2 pm. and staying overnight!! I have tried to contact them to put them off, but no reply, so they must be on their way.
I have loads of china etc to pack up, I just hope people will be patient until tomorrow.

Just a hint. If your cold won't go away and is reoccurring, you may be reinfecting yourself with your toothbrush. Keep changing or disinfect the brushes.

Me too! Three days ago I came down with abdominal pains, no apparent cause, general discomfort, inability to sleep, etc. Better this morning, but last night I had 64 auctions ending and had to deal with all the end of auction stuff--e-mails from buyers, to buyers, etc., and about 50 more ending tonight.
I don't know how some of you do it, with your huge numbers of auctions week after week. 20 - 30 is about my limit, I'm finding, but I couldn't resist listing a bunch for 10-cent day.
I'm sure we'll all be much better tomorrow, with an improved frame of mind!

2005 for me so far:
1) Can't do laundry because the water backs up into the bathtub during the spin cycle. Plumber coming today. Spent 2 hrs and plenty of money at the laundromat yesterday.
2) Came home from work early today with the "crud" that's been going around at my work. Plus a nagging headache. Had my heater on under my desk on hi and still freezing. Still getting hot and cold spells here at home.
3) Have a royal mess in my office of stuff needing to be listed and pictures taken of it so I can put them in their so called organized totes or drawers

Me Too!
I thought, ok, everyone is out of the house and I can get back to normal, wrong!
Having cable computer connection problems and cable TV connection problems as well. Still waiting for them to get here to fix it.
A buyer that won an auction from me before Christmas, emailed me back FINALLY to say that she no longer wants the coat ($185.00 sale too) She has 0 feedback and said, ok for me to leave her negative feedback!! HELLO! LOL
Went to take some pics for my upcoming auctions and camera is giving me a hard time. Someone must have fooled with it over the holidays. Finally got that working.
Our jukebox is out of wack. Someone must have fooled with that over the holidays so I have to get someone to fix it.

This was my first e-mail this morning.
"Please just send me an address where I can send a check because paypal isn't working. I've already wrote you once and you didn't respond. Please e-mail me back or I will just figure you don't want to make a sale."
This was the first and only e-mail she sent and it came at 1:56 AM CST, which is also her time zone.
I thought the name and address was familiar, so I check unpaid items. Yes, she was there for the same item. I filed for FVF last week. I thought I had put her on my BBL. Guess I didn't. This time when she couldn't pay the first time, she tried again. So, now she has two BIN's instead of one. Her feedback is 17.
Then I went over to the Dentist office where I do contract work to run the monthly statements. They have changed software and decided today would be a good day to switch over. Now, the statements are not compatible. I have to go back tonight while there are no patients there to monkey with the layout.
Yes, I am getting off to a good start also.
Be kind. Everyone is fighting their own secret battles.

I have 2 NPB's because of my change in e,ail addresses to P/P. I have sent 3 emails to each with no success. I gave them 24 hrs. so tomorrow I file NPB on each. Damz, I don't like to do thois, but what else can I do?
By the way, take 1000 mg of Vitamin C every day, you would be surprised how effective this against colds. My doc friend says never take more than 1500 mg as this can be hard on the kidneys. Vit. C is secreted daily, so you have to maintain the dosage every day. Knock on wood, I haven't had a cold in 3 yrs.

Diane, I'm sorry your little girl is sick. As far as the boyfriend, I'm sorry for you he's sick.
Well, I was gonna start my own Poor Pitiful Lucy Wishes You a Wonderful 2005 thread but figured I might as well join in this one.
I've been down and out since before Christmas. The cold from hell (or Houston, as the case may be...) was given me by 9YO grandson. He came barreling out of the hallway when they got here, hollered Hey G'ma Lucy! gave me a hug and then coughed on me. Drat that kid! I've been sick since three days later. Finally hauled my sorry self to the doctor yesterday.
I didn't have anything scheduled for 10 cent day. Never do, just doesn't seem worth it. I did have several auctions set to start on 12/26, meaning they closed Sunday. They did very well, I was pleased. Best thing is all but one have PP'd, the last is sending a MO.

Lucy -- I've been wondering where you have been! I thought with the holidays, you must have gone on vacation.
I'm sorry to hear that you, too, are sick.
My little girl saw the doc yesterday, and fortunately, it is a head cold virus and hasn't gotten into her lungs. That makes me feel better, but she still woke up with the fever this morning. I just wish this darn fever would go away! It goes down with ibuprofen/tylenol, but it always spikes back up as soon as it wears off. She is such a good little girl. As sick as she is, she has never complained once.
My boyfriend on the other hand is still moaning and carrying on like a baby!
I hope you feel better, Lucy. What did the doctor say?
The doc said take this antibiotic and use this asthma doo-hickey and come back on Tuesday. Uhh... I don't have asthma - what's this goofy thing for??
When I got home I discovered she'd forgotten to write the prescriptions so they had to phone them in. Dragged myself to the drugstore (10 minutes to closing) and got the stuff. No one but TWO asthma things. Of course nothing for the congestion, I guess that's supposed to go away all by itself.
Oh well, I'll survive. Maybe today's doctor will have some new bit of info to contribute.

Yes as great as 2004 finished up 2005 has been not so good...
Whole family down with a head cold from heck.. I'm only NOW starting to feel relatively normal.
Got my first Paypal reversal ever this morning - no reply from buyer to my email about the problem yet - but its a low $ item and I knew I was overdue...
Had major gallery issues since the 1st with it taking days to get my gallery pictures to take - kept getting rejection notices via email for no reason that I know of. That has gotten better finally...
