Has anyone dealt with disputes with bidders on Half? I received an email yesterday saying that a bidder complained that something I sent was not as described. Half had decided that I was at fault (while never asking me about my side of the story) and will be taking the payment out of my account. The item was new and described as such. I have the receipt where I purchased it new at Walmart on 11/26/04 (it was a Black Friday sale thing). The bidder complained to me, I told them that it was new and I knew it was new since I purchased it myself. Half's TOS says that bidders can't return stuff unless the seller agrees. I never agreed and I never had the chance to defend myself my providing the receipt as proof. They are just taking my money.

Half.com does not have enough staff to handle buyer/seller squabbles,if you read their terms, they dont want anyone to file chargeback .
That could explain why they just take the easiest way out.

I had something similar happen on Amazon. I filed a complaint with the US Postal Service - Mail Fraud. Once the customer received notice that they were under investigation, they could not pay me quickly enough. Give it a try, you probably won't get anywhere with half. Amazon did not care one bit that I was being ripped off, they almost literally said too bad, not our problem. Lovely, but at least there was another option to pursue.

Would this qualify as Mail Fraud? The bidder paid and the item was received. Neither of us is disputing that. What we are disputing is the condition of the item. I know it was new, she says it "could" have been used.

Then they are not taking your money, they are just invalidating the transaction. If they buyer sends back the item, you really don't have many options then.

Even though I will have the item back, I won't be able to return it to Walmart or sell it for what I have in it because now I KNOW it has been opened.
