I have been fighting with eBay over the last week. My user name is "nocreek". I had an account with 887 positive feedbacks, no negatives. Like many people in '99 - '00 I set out to try and make a living at eBay. I failed. (Years later I have realized how this can fit in with a new full time job.) I ended up owing eBay 343.73 in back fees. After receiving an email confirmation stating that if I paid off the balance I would be reinstated, I paid them $350.00 and contacted [email protected]. A week+ later I still have not been reinstated after several emails, a few live chat session and a phone call. What gives? Can you reach anyone at eBay who is empowered? Does eBay live up to its word?

Here is a typical response from eBay when I went to settle the account: (I admit I was delinquent but read below, two great kids to feed and love)

Hello Carl,
Thanks for writing to me. I'm Chris and I appreciate the chance to help
you out with your questions regarding your account status.
I have checked your account and you were suspended for non payment of
your seller fees. Your Account Status will reflect this. You can review
your Account Status by following the steps below:
First, make sure that you have signed out of eBay. If the link at the
top of any eBay page says Sign Out instead of Sign in, please click on
that link.
1. Click the "site map" link at the top of any eBay page.
2. Look for the link in the middle column called "Check my seller
account status."
3. Click the "continue" link.
4. Select the date range with which you want to view your account
history and click "submit."
To make a one-time payment by check, money order, credit card, or
directly from your checking account, please follow these steps below.
Again, first make sure that you have signed out of eBay.
1. Click on the "site map" link located at the top of any eBay page.
2. Scroll down and click "Make payments toward my account." located in
the Services section under Seller Accounts. You may be asked to sign in.
3. Again, you will be asked to sign in. On the suspension notice on the
next screen, click on the Continue link at the bottom of the page.
4. On the next page, at the bottom, click the link that corresponds to
what you want to do. The links you will see there are as follows:
Pay with your checking account
Pay with your credit card
Mail in a check or money order
5. On the next page, fill in the requested payment information and click
"Continue."
Once you have made a payment, please contact us at [email protected] and
let us know a payment has been made. Once we have this information, we
can reactivate your account.
You can read more about billing, payments, and our related policies at

If you are still having any difficulties or if you have any questions
please visit our Live Chat and we will gladly assist you. Live Chat is
another way for you to get the help you need from eBay. We have
representatives available to help you in a live help setting.
To contact our live help, please click on the link below:
General Support (open 24 hours a day, seven days a week):
You can also find "live help" links all throughout the site such as on
the Sell Your Item form, on the upper right-hand corner of the ebay.com
homepage, etc.
Carl, I was happy to have assisted you today. Thank you for choosing
eBay, and have a great eBay day!
With best regards,
Chris A.

Marketplace Safety Tip: Protect yourself from fraudulent emails that ask
for sensitive personal information like credit card numbers, passwords,
etc. Just because an email message looks like it is sent directly from
eBay, that isn't always the case. To learn more about protecting
yourself from fake or "spoof" emails, see our online tutorial at the
following Web page:
