Bidder wins auction 1/25. Pays at 9pm 1/25 via Paypal. In his Paypal message he states, "I need this by 2/1, Send Immediately!" Problem... my next shipping day is Friday (1/28). Impossible to ship earlier b/c of my school/work schedule. I send them an email stating I cannot send it until Friday morning. Bidder becomes seriously irate. Emails me saying I'm a fraud, etc. Friday morning, bidder proceeds to file a fraudulent claim that he didn't receive package and wants a refund with paypal. I of course had already shipped the item and emailed them that wonderfully beautiful DC# so they can investigate it. I email bidder explaining that my policies and rules were very clearly noted in my auction. It states to expect shipment within 7 to 10 days. It of course never takes that long to receive their item because I normally ship within 3 days via Priority Mail. I explain that I am well within Paypal and Ebay guidelines for shipping a paid auction. He then emails me nothing but profanities and verbal abuses. Talk about a real immature bidder. I emailed him back and told him that he should consider reading ebay, paypal, and sellers terms before bidding to avoid future confusion. I told him he is being infantile and immature and that the world doesn't revolve around his life. He needs to learn to take responsibility for his owns actions or lack thereof (not reading terms).

So, this morning I check feedback, and as expected there is his negative there for the world to see, "Guys a real PRICK!!! Never buy from this guy!!BEWARE"

I filed for a removal right away. Has anyone had experience with the word, "prick"? Would that be considered profane or vulgar by eBay? I sure would hope so, but am left wondering.

This guy is wasting his time to attack me and attempt to scam me out of my money. oh, by the way, his screenname is "yanezrs" in case you want to block him from bidding on anything. I cannot believe someone would get so upset over a 3 day turnaround for shipping.

LOL AP

well the first thing you should do is take out that blurb on Holiday shipping. at first glance it looks like you ship out within 24 hours.

Then you should HIGHLIGHT AND BOLD that part about you only ship out one day a week. 99.9% of the people will not see that in your TOS and it is important information to some bidders. Heck, put it directly in every auction in the item description. Means one less nasty feedback you might get.

And no, he shouldn't of called you a prick.

"Shipping: During the Summer, I ship once a week. Please expect to receive your item 7-12 business days of payment."

This isn't summer. So doesn't that mean you'd be shipping more than once a week? Now this is what I would call ambiguous.

Well, I certainly have had experience using the word myself, but as far as eBay is concerned...it's not a 4 letter word...but I would certainly think that this would be considered profanity in anyone's book.

Good luck with this one!

Rusty: More and more items I'm ordering from the internet (not Ebay) are being shipped within 24 hours, some within an hour or two. (I just received a pair of walking shoes from New Jersey 2 days after ordering.) It may be that buyers are becoming used to quicker shipping than you're doing. Once a week shipping sounds to me as though you really don't have time in your life for selling on Ebay in a way that will please buyers; perhaps when you're through with school. . . .

Or, could you get someone to ship one extra day per week for you?

I disagree Roadsmith, if his TOS says mail on Friday then that is what it is. If the buyer would have read it he then would have know that the item just might not arrive on time. Everyone has their own TOS. Mine is next day after payment, sometimes the same day but that doesn't mean everyone either will do or has to do that.

Some sellers only ship twice a week. Buyers have to learn to read................

Another option to keeping your buyers happy is to have your auctions end 24- 48 hours before your shipping day.

I've noticed that most buyers who use Paypal immediately after the auction expect their purchase to be in the mail the next morning.

I've been a little annoyed with the "I need it tomorrow" emails. When I reply to their whining with an email that states I ship within 24 hours, I receive an apology and a thank you note. Seems they really didn't need it tomorrow, but they are tired of having to wait 2-3 weeks to get items they had bought from other sellers.

Can't blame them. When I pay for Priority shipping, I expect it fast. If I pay for parcel I know the lower cost means it can take awhile.

Libra: I know that he says he ships only on Fridays, but how many buyers read the fine print? I'm just suggesting, as others here have, that twice a week might be better--esp. when people pay with PayPal right away and expect the item sooner rather than later.

I like ltray's suggestion that auctions end 24-48 hours before shipping day. That could solve a lot of problems.

If all of you would go back and read Rusty's post, he didn't ask for advise on his shipping policies. He was asking if the word prick was considered profane or vulgar by eBay.

Yes, it is and they should remove it.

And as far as your shipping policy is concerned, it is your auction and you can ship as often as you want. Anyone who is stupid enough to order something that has to be mailed 3 days before they need it is probably too stupid to read the TOS anyway. Even if you mail it that day, there is no guarantee that it will get there in time. We are talking about the postal service.

Roadsmith -- People really shouldn't expect ebayer sellers to ship the same as full-fledged companies with a full staff of employees. I ship twice a week, but only because I have gotten my business down to a science (and even still I screw-up on occasion). We just can't compete with bigger companies when, in many instances, an ebay seller is just a one-person operation.

As long as Rusty is shipping once every 7 days as per Paypal's and Ebay's rules, he really can't be expected to drop everything on a dime for one customer who is exceedingly demanding. As a matter of fact, if that piece of work was so concerned about getting it shipped right away, why didn't he e-mail Rusty before bidding to ensure that it would be shipped within 24 hours? If anything, the buyer is the true prick.

Rusty

If you ship via USPS and print the label with postage, the post office will pick the item(s) up for you free of charge. I leave mine by my front door (you can specify where they will be left) and they come get them. The only time I go to the PO now is for International packages. That way, I can ship everyday, and I do.

The next time you encounter someone who is so demanding and wants the item immediately, quote them FedEx Overnight rates. That'll shut 'em up.

Don't you just love these helpful souls who have to put in their two cents worth about my life and give opinions whether I should be selling or not. My question was about the profane and vulgar feedback, not whether I should be selling on ebay or not if I'm in school. Yes, I'm a busy person. I actually have been working on updating my auction info, relocating my home, relocating my store, going to school and selling on ebay. ironic that someone would even make a comment like that. perhaps they should be the one considering ending their ebay career to become an ebay auction consultant. lol.

well, they removed it within the last hour. just for laughs, here is this creeps last email sent to me. i censored only the last word with an exclamation point. "hey homo..eat a bowl of man chowder!!tell you what as sson as you get those nuts of your chin then you can talk to the men!untill then homo eat a d!ck!!" i emailed him back to let him know he should use spell check.

He is a newbie isn't he? I wonder how long he will last.

Glad eBay took it off for you.

he was just under 20 feedbacks. perfect. some sort of bug got under his butt and bit him. he literally just flipped out on me when i told him that i couldn't ship until friday. he filed a chargeback with paypal in less than 72 hours. it is crazy. i explained all of ebay's, paypal's, and my rules to him and that i was well within their rules. he apparently doesn't like it when he can't get his way though. i would have gladly shipped his item if i could have the next day, but i didn't even know he paid until wednesday evening, and my schedule was booked the next day. if the guy needed it rush delivery, he should have emailed me prior to the auction ending so that he would know if i could meet those deadlines he wanted. his response to the neg i left for him after he left his was as follows:

Mine: "Bidder has done nothing but complain. Item shipped 3 days after payment made."

His: "seller cant even return emails! then when finally does , he asks me on a date!"

I answer most of my emails within 24 hours, with some exceptions, this not being one of them. I have answered all of this emails in less than 24 hours, and he has responded to all of my emails. I'm telling you, this guy just flipped out on it.

Hey, Rusty, I know my response bothered you--and maybe I'd have worded it differently if I'd thought a bit longer. I apologize if it offended you; I didn't mean to do that.

Diane, I agree, and I suspect many buyers really dont get the whole schism of ebay and individual sellers going on. It's funny when they refer to a lone auction as "your website" and so on. I havent had alot of trouble with buyers to complain of, but once or twice I have felt like telling someone something to the effect, "dont worry, I will get the quality control department right on that ------" I think, they think ebay and every seller is just a big QVC operation! ... But maybe thats the way it's supposed to be thought of if you're doing things right.
