Dear eBay Seller,

Recently, we announced fee changes taking effect on February 18th and affecting certain optional listing upgrades on eBay.com, the subscription fee for a Basic eBay Store, and Final Value Fees on Store Inventory Format listings. Based on Community input, we understand our original communication was a bit unclear.

To clarify, no changes are being made to the Final Value Fees on Auction-style, Auction with Buy It Now option, and Fixed Priced listings (with the exception of certain Business & Industrial capital equipment categories). Final Value Fee changes apply only to Store Inventory Format listings, a listing format only available to Store sellers and with durations of 30, 60, 90, and 120 days and Good 'Til Cancelled.

The Final Value Fees for Auction-style listings, Auction with Buy It Now option, and Fixed Price listings have remained unchanged since 2002.

You can view the full details of the pricing announcement here.

Regards,

eBay

The Final Value Fees for Auction-style listings, Auction with Buy It Now option, and Fixed Price listings have remained unchanged since 2002.

But all of listing fees and upgrades have increased since. I think sellers are finally getting through to the greedy blood suckers.

>>we understand our original communication was a bit unclear<<

Huh, their second communication is not much better. I kept re-reading it because they make it sound like only Stores is affected by the increase.

HELLO??? You mess with the gallery price, the BIN price and all the other YADA-YADA options and you are messing with ALL of us, not just the Stores.

I hope Meg really does read Vendio, this little group of posters does have a finger on the heartbeat of FeeBay and we ain't no freakin Dumbies!

What about Ebay insertion fees for auctions, BIN, and fixed pricing- are they saying those too are not increased if they do not fit into those " special Business categories"? Can't figure it when they put emphasis on the FINAL VALUE FEE- and don't mention the insertion fee clarification.
Can Anyone explain about the insertion fee?

It seems to me they have back tracked on proposed increases for FVFs for completed auctions, while keeping all the other prior announced increases the same. That is my reading, can anyone confirm?

" they have back tracked on proposed increases for FVFs for completed auctions"

-----
No, they only stated an FVF increase for items sold through ebaY Stores.

Am I being dense here and missing something? I understand they back tracked the FVF for auctions, but did the insertion fees for regular old auctions increase?
( exluding the "special business categories and stores).? Thanks for being patient with my questions. SJ

"Am I being dense here and missing something? I understand they back tracked the FVF for auctions,..."

No they did NOT backtrack the FVF for auctions... they have not changed what the FVF is for auctions, in any way.

" ... but did the insertion fees for regular old auctions increase?"

No, for regular auctions the amount of the insert fee will be the same, EXCEPT FOR if you use a Gallery Picture; that is going from 25¢, and now will be bumped up to 35¢ ... also an increase in fee for a 10-day auction fee ... and I think the BIN or Fixed Price is going up a little bit too.

Yes,
They did increase listing fee options.

The BIN is increasing.

The 10 day listing is increasing.

The gallery photo option is increasing.

The seven day listing hasn't been announced yet, but it is one of the worst kept secrets of ebay's time. It is going to have a charge soon.

So when they state that they did not raise listing fees, that isn't entirely true.

Note how they refer to things as optional...

...As if listing on eBay in the first place is {{{NOT}}} an option??

I'd be concerned that they put that part about "fees for (such and such) have not increased since 2002"...that's almost ALWAYS how business justifies an increase (well we haven't increased them in 3 years--give us a break!)

Expect to get nailed soon.
