Man Selling 9/11 Pentagon Flag to Treat His Cancer
ORANGE, Va. (March 3) - A man who has displayed an American flag pulled from the damaged Pentagon after the 2001 terrorist attacks is selling the flag to raise money for his cancer treatment.
David Nicholson and his wife with the U.S. flag that was taken from the damaged Pentagon after Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
David Nicholson, who said he had previously turned down a $100,000 offer for the flag, will auction it on eBay starting Friday. The winning bidder also will receive a letter of authenticity from the construction company that flew the flag on the Pentagon site.
Nicholson, 44, is undergoing chemotherapy for kidney cancer and hopes the auction will provide enough money for his family if he doesn't recover.
"I've got to do what I've got to do," he said. "Maybe that's why I found the flag."
The flag was in a box of debris brought to Nicholson by an acquaintance who was a manager of the construction company.
Nicholson, who once ran an auction house, restored the 5-by-8-foot flag and framed it along with several documents, including one listing the victims in the Pentagon attack.
His display attracted media attention and offers to purchase the flag, but Nicholson said he rejected those, deciding to share it with the public instead.

They have finally listed it and did not set up a pre-approved bidders list!
I hope some smartzzz doesn't mess this up for the man's family! It sounds like a genuine and truely good cause, but the current bidder's list looks kind of iffy...

Remember the flag being auctioned off for the guy who has cancer. I looked at what the high bidder has bought in the past. Doesn't look good....Look what the buyer on the flag has bid on...
I hope he doesn't plan on paying for the flag with these!
