I hate it when I spend 20 minutes writing a killer item description...click on "preview" and get the infamous "this page cannot be displayed" message...and then, when I go back to my listing find it's disappeared into cyberspaceland and I have to do the whole thing over again...ARGGG!

Every time I write a description, I do it beforehand in wordpad and save it as a file. When I get ready to list, I copy and paste it in the description field. Not only does this save me the frustration of the problem you describe (which has happened to me before) but I have a permanent copy of the description that I can reuse if I list an identical item later, or edit and change a few words for a similar item.

I do the same thing as Sparkz. I have a process where I do all of my descriptions at the same time through Microsoft Word, then save the file. Next process is do all my photos together. When I'm ready to list, I simply cut and paste my description into my auction and insert my photos. Been doing it like this for years - has worked well for me.

I create my auctions from "pending" - I have about 50 sample listings there (all categories are selected and boilerplate language with links to similar items in my store). When I am ready to list, I use "CTRL" "F" to find the one I want, hit "copy" and then edit the copy and attach the pics. If something goes into never-never land and is lost, I simply edit again. Usually though, when that happens, if you hit "back space" or "forwrd" you can find your work again.

Well Jack,
No surprise to any of us that you would still be stupid enough to type your descrition directly into you auction listing page and not into a word file first.
Blueyes,
Do yourself a favor and type your descriptions into a file first, I use frontpage, then copy and paste. Even if you only use it once, it will still save you a lot of time and aggravation over the system you are utilizing now. And if you use Word or Front Page, you get an automatic spell checker too.

I use FrontPage, too. It's a time saver! I save all my auctions in it, too.
I've had the disappearing text thing happen after typing a long response for the RT. I guess sometimes that's a good thing.

Hey, not all of us use a fancy Front Page or work program. I type directly into Vendio and rarely have trouble and don't consider myself stupid.

I rarely have a problem and also type my descriptions into Vendio auction page. Who's calling someone stupid, stupid.

Wouldn't it be just as simple to just copy the text before you send as opposed to flipping between different programs which has it's own potential for problems and takes longer?

Fancy. Word pad is part of windows and literally every one already has it on their computer. No fancy program is required. I do use a more fancy program, but the point is to save your work so you don't have to do it again.

Thanks all...good suggestions. I don't use anything that even faintly smacks of "fancy" and do all work directly to Vendio...so think Jack's suggestion will work for me...The great "disappearing description horror story" doesn't happen often but it's almost always after I do my longest and most detailed description...Thanks!
