I hope someone out there can help me. My little girl got a DVD for Christmas. Well, she handled it alot before she got her DVD player. She loves this DVD, but it keeps sticking in certain parts. There aren't any deep scratches on it, so I think it just needs to be cleaned. I have no experience with DVDs. How can I get her fingerprints off of it? I think she also had food on her fingers when she handled it and was able to get some of that off by gently rubbing it.

CD/DVD cleaning detergent, isopropyl alcohol or methanol, and a soft cloth are usually the best things to clean them with.
When you wipe the disc with the cloth, be sure not to wipe around the disc - go from the middle hole out to the edge. The data track runs around the disc in concentric circles and each piece of data on the disc is repeated in case your player has an error reading it the first time (error correction being a good thing), so if you happen to damage a piece of data while wiping outward, the player will continue without missing a beat. But if you rub around the disc, that scratch will follow the data track and ruin the read - same thing applies to CDs.

Bizzy...Isopropyl is the same as rubbing alcohol. Don't buy the regular stuff off the shelf. It's 30% water. Ask the pharmacist for technical grade, which they usually keep behind the counter. It's 92 -98% pure alcohol. It is also great to clean tape residue off yard sale finds. Or, you can use ethanol which can be purchased in a liquor store. It will do the same thing, and goes good with orange juice too
