I was driving aroudn this morning with my kids and we saw about 35 different garage sales within 3 miles of my house. It was unbelievable. At one, I saw a REALLY nice gibson Electric bass in the original case. The man wanted $250 for it. Now, I don't know too much about instruments, but I know a good thing when I see it. I put $25 down on it (refundable) and ran home and looked it up (1975-78 Ripper Electric Bass). There were 3 up for sale and they seemed to go for $400 to $500, so I ran back, paid the rest and came home. I went to the community swimming pool and started talking with a guy, He wants it and has offered $400... WOOOT!

Not sure if I scored or not!!! I got a coffee / cocktail table that the top move over and a bar pops up. It was a 1964 (made in 1963 only) World's Fair piece - or so I was told. Jetson's space age for sure. Paid $250 but I think this could be rare. Any World's Fair experts out there???
Congratulation dejapooh. By the way - good idea to leave a deposit - never done that but I'll try it next time.

Once again,i was back in a vietnamese supermarket and they sell fresh duck and chicken eggs,so you said what is the big deal?
well the big deal is they cost more and the reason they cost more is that they bave been fertilised and then stopped, some folks like to eat them for the growth hormone.
well,i was fooled once to think i can make omelette out of these eggs, until i look .
so no more fertilised eggs for me,duck or chicken.

I wouldn't hold a penny for Lincoln without a deposit. I've heard too many people say, "I've got to get some cash, I'll be right back!" only to never see them again (the worst is when I turn down other sales in the mean time). I stopped accepting holds without a deposit of $5 or 10% or a drivers license (in case they REALLY don't have the cash). I also put a time limit on the hold. If they do now want to leave something, I tell them I can't hold it without a deposit of some kind, but if they hurry, it should still be here when they get back... Unless that other guy who wanted it comes back...
Ebay auction starts tomorrow at 10pm PST. I'll post my auction number once it is up.
BTW, I also found out by doing a bit of research that this is a 1975 Natural Satin Finish and only 2242 were made over 2 years of production... WOOT2

We had a doozy of as snowfall here, too. We broke the all time record. As of 10:00 p.m. last night it was 105" of snowfall for the season and still coming down. It's supposed to be almost 70 by Tuesday. Crazy weather!

Wow on the coffee table (if it is 60s)! My nephew and his wife bought a house built in 1963 and are so keen on having "period" furnishings that they had a coffee table made from scratch. It still amuses me me to hear my college years talked about in reverent tones as some long ago exotic time. That table should do well.

BTW, I am in Thousand Oaks, CA. That is right near Los Angeles. It was in the low 80's yesterday, so it was close enough to try out the new membership in the pool.

They all said how tasty they were but eww how nasty they looked, boiled ducklings with feathers starting to sprout. Glad to see your smart enough to stay away from them.
No yard sales for us this weekend ,it was raining ...wahhhhhhh

Lady...that's a desirable table. The original has black sides with silver trim and is worth 2-3K. Double that at least if all original and perfect condition. There were many remakes made in the mid to late 70's, these are much more commonly seen and these are worth about what you paid. Nice piece in any case.

Not a yard sale score, but I went to a swap meet Thursday. Bought an item for $5.00. Didn't have to take pictures or write a description as I had sold a few other identical items and had all the info stored on my computer. listed it that night at 7:15 PM and it sold on a BIN at 5:15 the next morning for $135.00.

Do you by chance know the maker? Mine has a label. That is how the seller looked it up but I have not had much luck.
Do you know the name for this piece??
Mine is gold trim not silver. Do I have a chance??
I got some photos and will post tomorrow.
Thanks

I remember those. Is there a maker name on the underneath side? If so tell us as I have a book of the 60's and 70's with furniture makers in it. I looked through it last night but your coffee table wasn't in it. The shape goes along with the time.

The lady I got it from said she googled it and came up with the World's Fair information. Said they only made this one year for the World's Fair.
I must be doing something wrong because I can't find it.
I think this reads Sam Stock Manufacturing Corp.
This is on the inside but nothing underneath

Well, at least you can say it was Eames era since the Eames were involved with that World's Expo. I want to say they did some work for the IBM display. I'm not a collector but that was from some limited searching I did when you first posted.

I like to research sometimes on www.ask.com (jeeves) since I get better results even though I've been a google fan for a long time.
