Well, it had to happen - sooner or later.
We got our first negative feedback today. And, it didn't hurt as much as I thought it would. I guess, because I know we were right and bent over backwards for a customer who wasn't about to be happy no matter what.
They bought something they weren't happy with and e-mailed us about it. I replied within an hour of receiving the e-mail. Didn't hear anything for a day -- then get another e-mail from them, even more upset.
I replied again, explaining that if they sent it back, we would refund their entire payment, including shipping. Still no response for another day -- then a scathing e-mail taking us to task for not replying to them despite responding to them via eBay as well as our ISP.
I pulled their info and made the call. Voicemail was FULL! and couldn't even leave a message.
I reported them to eBay for bad contact info.
Finally, they get one of the 4-5 e-mails and acknowledged that "our e-mails have finally caught up" and sent the item back. Never did they acknowledge that they had any culpability in the communication challenges.
It came back with a note demanding refund (which we said we would do, anyway...). My Momma didn't raise a fool, and since eBay provides a nice little feature called "Blocked Bidders List" - I used it int this case.
Refunded their money as soon as the item was returned. Then I get an e-mail thanking us for the refund. They also mentioned that they tried to bid again and "noticed" they were blocked and threatened bad feedback.
Then, today, we get the negative - about 3 weeks after the refund.
Replied professionally:
Refunded 3wks ago. His contact info was bad, blamed us; even voicemail was full.
Then left them their 4th neg:
HAD BAD CONTACT INFO - Blamed us for it. Retaliates 3 wks After Refund! BEWARE!
Hopefully, sellers will notice that even if they refund, they are open for getting a neg from this one.
Oh, well. No longer a virgin. Wonder what we'll do with this new-found freedom?

After 7 years, I don't worry about a neg. No matter what you do you will get one eventually. I got one last month from a woman who said my emails were discourtious & that I didn't take P/P. Well Helz Bells, if she had read my TOS, it plainly says "I prefer PayPal" As JACK says The Beat Goes On

I went a long time without negs, now I have 3 that have stuck (and 5 that I've been able to withdraw) - It really doesn't bother me either as much as I thought it would. Don't get me wrong, I don't want negatives, but as you said, sometimes you will get one no matter how much you try not to. I definitely will try to provide good customer service, but there is a limit of what I will do. I had a customer recently who didn't like what they got, so I told them to send it back for a refund. They demanded that I refund them first, then they will send it back. I wrote them a short note saying that It doesn't work like that, if they want a refund, they need to send it back first, I will NOT be refunding without having my merchandise. I never heard from them, either I will get it back, not get it back, but I assume I will get a negative. Oh well! They will get one back.

Didn't someone report here recently that negative feedback would be removed by Ebay if bad contact info was involved? Seems like someone else confirmed it, too. Worth a try!

Trader - Trouble is, they've corrected the problem. And, PS support is a JOKE. They promise response within 24 hours - and the first and only time I needed help it took them almost 2 days before I heard back - and then it was just to say they forwarded the question to someone else...

I guess, technically, he hasn't completed the transaction since everything's back the way it started -- I have the item and he has his money.
But, when the form asks for a reason for the dispute, it leans more toward "no payment made" options, not "Buyer was a jerk and demanded refund then filed neg because he was "blocked" from bidding again.
What additional "stink" can he cause if he wants? Don't want to provoke him more than I have already with the neg. Or, do I?

Do either no payment made or the check bounced. Either way, it will give him a big black mark.
