for those of you who have an account do your taxes, how muc do you pay to the accountant? My accountant charged me more money this year dispite the fact that I
had it all totaled in Excel.

I wonder how many do not report their Ebay income. My first years I worked for a company so all I need to concern myself with was a 10-99 form.

I was really bummed out that I made less money this year. It seems every year it is less and less.

However all the work I have done online has helped me hook up with other people who need help so now I have a second and third income.

I've used Turbotax for years now. I wouldn't attempt to do my taxes with just regular tax forms, but with Turbotax is is pretty easy. I have pretty complicated taxes too, with investment property, two different businesses, different deductions, 1099 forms, everything itemized, etc. I keep very good records, and just have to sort of total everything up and plug in the numbers. My total cost was under $75.

Turbotax is fantastic! I zipped through all the schedules. BTW, I also use eBay's accounting assistant now and things are easier than ever. It downloads all the info (fees, sales from eBay and PayPal) into my Quickbooks program.

I use Turbotax, too and I think it's great!! My ex-sister-in-law is an accountant and I did call her with a couple of easy questions, but that's all I had to do. Turbotax pretty much walks you thru everything. Also, I use Quicken for my bus checking acct and it imports all that stuff, i.e., expenses, etc.

Do you buy Turbotax on line or get it at a store?
I filed for an extension and will probably use Turbotax if I can still get it.

Oh, you can still buy Turbotax. It doesn't matter if you get it online or in a store. Be sure to get the special deal where they give you one state tax software for free.

Turbotax is great, but I have trouble with parts of it, like how to include option writing and the form that now goes along with 1099misc where you have to fill in what type of business you are.

Hey Cheryl, How is eBay's Accounting Assistant working for you? I don't have Quickbooks but I thought about getting it and using the Accounting Assistant. However, I wanted to talk to someone who had used it before I jumped off the deep end. What information does eBay provide? Thanks in advance for your help. Susan

Susan

It's working great! It downloads the fees from eBay and PayPal and the sales. Even if you don't have Quickbooks, it lets you see all your sales and fees! If gives you a sales summary, eBay fees and PayPal transactions. It's made my life a bit easier.

Hi Cheryl,

How can I download it if I don't have Quickbooks? Thanks.

Susan

You do need to have Quickbooks. Sometimes they offer a free trial: www.intuit.com. You can probably find a cheap copy on eBay. It needs to be version 2002, 2003, 2004 or 2005. QB is not cheap, however, but it does track everything for me including inventory, sales, etc. To me the investment has been worth it.
