Well, it finally happened. A bidder claims to have paid, and claims that I marked the auction as "paid". I investigate what he is telling me, and low and behold, it reads, "You have marked this item as Paid." I fixed the problem and told the bidder it isn't marked as paid, which they ironically sent Paypal payment right away. Talk about a scammer, but that isn't the issue right now. I have never used ebay's system to mark anything as paid or unpaid. The bidder never paid, so how did it get marked as paid? I checked other auctions, and there are a few others that were marked as Paid on the very same day the auction ended. This is very odd.

When buyer pays by Palpal, the paid symbol appears on their "My Ebay" immediately. Must appear on the seller's "My Ebay" as well

Maybe the buyer marked it as paid. I have done that with some of my purchases when I paid by check and the seller never marked it.

Actually, it is showing up on the auction page, not the MY EBAY page.
On the auction page, where it would normally say, "Seller Paid by Paypal", it will just read, "You have marked this item as paid," even though I never marked it paid, the bidder never used Paypal or marked that they using Check or Money Order.
It is only happening to a few auctions, and I don't know why. I am thinking about listing a test auction to use a buy it now to test the system. Is that illegal? I imagine if I put text in the auction stating I am simply testing it, there shouldn't be a problem.

I think if the buyer completes Auction Checkout, it marks the item as payment sent, not to be confused with payment received.

Anything marked in MyEbay will show on the auction page. You probably accidently clicked on the button not realizing you had done it. I have done it a coouple times myself. Not a big deal. Just correct it and move on.
