Hello neglus,

I am a US stamp collector and buy quite a few collections on ebay per month. I buy the collections for items I need in my own collection and then usually break the collection up and sell them in smaller lot's on ebay. From time to time I get some nice looking post cards. I recently got a nice collection that has about 50 very nice post cards and many made by Streamlined Beauty Comics. Most are 1940s vintage comic drawing's of subject's like a girl's dress blowing up and some by standard taking a picture with a caption on top with lines like "NOT MISSING A THING DOWN HERE". What kind of price would you think post cards like this are worth, that is selling price on ebay. I have sold some post cards on ebay before, usually with higher value stamps on them or advertisemant post cards. Unused advertisemant post cards seem to do very well and I have had some bring as much as $80 to $100 each depending on the advertisement. I usually do fairly well with this type of post card but I really have no experience in picture type post cards. I am starting to get over run with box's full of them and it's time to clean house if you get my drift. I'm not looking to get into the post card business like you but I do get some what I concider nice ones from time to time and really don't want to let them go for nothing so I was thinking of puting them in my ebay store with a reasonable price on them. The problem is I'm not sure what would be considered a reasonable price for this type of post card.

By the way, I have checked out your store and it looks very nice, congrat's. You must keep rather busy as you have quite a few cards listed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry Mike - I don't know much about comic postcards - I DON"T "GET" MOST OF THEM (i think it's more because humor has changed than that I am blonde)!!

By "photo" do you mean they are real photos (not printed but developed by photo process)? I just looked at the comic category and there aren't very many high priced cards in there. If i were you I would run an auction to see what kind of price you get rather than putting right away in your ebay store with a fixed price. Remember ebay stores are not searchable and since you aren't known as a postcard dealer people would probably not have your store bookmarked to see your listings. Once you get a feeling for what they will bring at auction you can run a few postcards in auction format and put the rest in your store (with big links to the store in the auction).

Are the 1940's cards "linen"? Who is the publisher? Many people collect series of linen comic postcards (but I don't think they pay much for them).

You might want to raise your question at the ebay Postcard Collector (and seller) Discussion Group. http://groups.ebay.com/forum.jspa?forumID=100001931. Someone there might collect comics or know about yours.

One bit of advice about selling pc - if you price at $.99 you probably will sell at $.99. Make sure you price at a price you can afford to sell at unless you KNOW it's a fabulous card that will bring high $ (and even then you could STILL sell at a $.99 or not sell at all!)

GOOD LUCK! and thanks for the compliment about my store and YES I AM BUSY but slowing down a bit for summer.

They are made by "Streamlined Beauty Comics", that's what is printed on the reverse of the card. They are not actual photo post cards, sorry for the confussion. They are print type, basically they look just like a color comic drawing. And I am unfamillar with post card paper types, I am famillar with stamp paper types. If I had to guess I would say these are not linen, they look like normal heavy card stock. If they were linen would they be like linen and silk paper stamps where there are visable fibers in the paper? I will probably stick a few of them in auction format and see how they do. Thanks for the help.

Can you post a scan of one of the backs?

I know there are modern reprints of those type of postcards.

An eBay search for "comic postcards" brings up quite a number of hits, but no reference for Streamlined Beauty Comics on ebay or google.
