I am just wondering if anyone is selling anything. My sales are pretty sad right now..I sell mostly collectible type stuff. I have thought about trying different items but don't know if it is worth it for the summertime or just wait until the fall.

My sales suck right now, but I think that is mostly a matter of a lack of items. I sell on consignment, and I guess people in my town are busy getting kids to camp, going to the Hamptons, etc. rather than cleaning out their attics.

For me, things are super slow on eBay right now.
I've moved most of my items to Yahoo or ioffer. I figure it doesn't make sense to sell items super cheap at eBay when there's a good chance they won't even get bids.

Ralphie & I have retrenched until end of AUG...
As with every summer, feeBay SUCKS!
So, we move everything into our STORE & only run around 5-10 regular listings as signposts for our feeBay STORE...
Can't wait til 2nd week of AUG -- but this is EVERY year, so take heart

Well..guess I am not alone which at least makes me know it is not me but I hate it for all of us. Oh well..guess I will try to get a little more organized and do some descriptions on this huge pile of junk in my trunk and then I can list it all in the fall (a poet I am).

I'm doing oddly well right now, but I will take the month of July off as usual. The batches I'm starting tonight are my last, I think, until August, although I'll be writing up descriptions and putting items in pending all summer.
I bought a small stack of music for the recorder (the instrument) a couple of years ago and have listed them with no hope at all of selling them. However, they're doing well, at least at the low prices I started them at. Every one of them has a bid and some have 7 or 8 bids. So odd. And I was thinking I'd just donate them to the thrift shop. Go figure. So from now on I'll be watching for recorder music!

I have off days and then all of a sudden one day everyone goes nuts. My store sales were thru the roof yesterday, double what my previous high had been. Today will probably be bad, so far not a ton of promise.
On the otherhad, I've been buying almost more than I am selling because there are so many things going for such absurdly low prices. Most of the time though it is due to bad listings, titles that dont have the right words in them or really bad pictures. This Christmas season should be very good

They suck, Thank You. I've been working on new ads for later and posting on Yahoo. Hey Tom what happens the 2nd week of August? E-Bay isn't going to give us ALL a free pen are they?

I think Tom is right-sales are slow every summer for the simple reason everyone is either going on vacation or saving their money to go on vacation. It will probably pick up in the 3rd week of August because most people are back from vacation by then.Since I also buy a lot on ebay,I have cut my spending way down, because we are going on vacation in another 10 days, and I just rather spend my money while away on vacation.

I stopped listing about a week ago so I can have everything mailed out before I leave for the e-Bay shindig.
Sales were brisk. I'll most likely keep plugging away at it all summer...
Have to buy a new camera though...I think my Mavica went belly up. Any suggestions on what to buy?

I came into the ebay area this morning wanting to ask is anyone selling anything! Should have guessed someone had already come here with the same concern... I have had such a struggle for the past month... Things that would sell for $100 in January have no bids or watchers... I have sold on ebay for 8 years I expect this time to be slow... but this summer it is REALLY slow. Low hits and low or no bids. The only thing that stays the same is the time typing auctions up and paying ebay for listing it! Hope everyone has a good week with at least 10 good sales.... My hopes and wishes are much more reserved in the summer..

Sales have been so-so. This is the first time since Christmas that I think I might be able to take a break without losing potential sales..and soooooooooooooo......I'm gonna slow down....waiting for any reduced listing fee carrot ebay feels like tossing our way for my relists.

This month is the pits compared to last month. I need about $160 more in sales this month to keep me within range of Power Seller status. I've never been this close and it feels like it's right there. But this month has been REALLY dragging slow. I'm anxious for what everyone talks about being the Christmas shopping season to start! I'll keep listing through, I'm not going anywhere.

Last month was the pits for me and now just lost my Power Seller status.
However, this past week my sales are doing pretty good. I was all set to take most of the summer off but gave it one more shot and now glad I did. I'm sure it will tank again so not going to go gang busters listing stuff until maybe end of August.

Other than August, when I close up the shop for a good stretch, I'm generally a Platinum seller ($25k). If I don't get a move on, I might not make Gold this month ($10k). I might as well have shut down this month, for all the good being open has done me.

Powersellers trying to stay powersellers is what keeps E-Bay going when things are slow. If they had to depend on people like me who don't give a crap,I guess they would be hurting.

Mah,
I don't care about the PowerSeller status so much, but the rent comes due every month whether or not it's a good month.

Speaking of selling: I was watching one of the home cable stations this morning and got a good laugh. There was a clueless young wife; the organizers were helping the couple get organized. They determined she has 46 pairs of shoes she never wears (but did she wear them already, I wonder?). The organizer in her most officious voice said, "Now, I want you to register on Ebay and sell all of these shoes. And then sell all the clothes you don't wear any longer." The clueless gal looked puzzled, as though she's never heard of Ebay, and I'm thinking HOW HARD it's going to be for her to just sell those shoes. How much learning she'll have to do first. And. . . does she have a digital camera. Etc. etc. etc. I'll bet the organizer has never sold anything on Ebay--or she wouldn't have been so blase about it.
End of my Rant About the Clueless Masses.

The first week of June was REALLY slow for me... but after that... things picked up nicely again. Not sure why. I have brought in some new items... and they're doing real well right now. (guess the market's not saturated yet!) All in all... I'm pleased with sales right now (but they could always be better!)

Sales across the board are slow at the moment. We have multiple web sites, and have stat charts, which show sales for each month of the year for the last four years, and June has always been one of our slowest months.
Presently, we are not posting on eBay at all – fees are too high to justify the gamble of selling an item.
We too have gone back to the FREE Yahoo, which just like it was in the past, it takes considerably longer to sell an item, but if you have enough auctions posted, you can do okay.
THE LAST YEAR we used Yahoo before they started charging a fee we sold more on Yahoo than we ever had on eBay, and at that time I was an eBay Power Seller! We are going to put our efforts into Yahoo again. We also use a niche auction, with a FVF only, and we keep that one loaded. At least when posting on either of these sites, only my time is at risk, if the item doesn’t sell, it is automatically relisted, and IF such follows as it did 3 years ago, in time everything sells, it is just MUCH slower than eBay – BUT it is much, much cheaper, and basically risk free.
We will be using Yahoo through the summer. We will keep our eBay store open, but probably not post on eBay again until the fall buying season.
**************
Some POWER SELLERS may actually work harder to keep up their position as an eBay Power Seller - the title doesn't put cash in my bank, so presently my Power Seller title is gone, who cares, it will reappear in the fall, and personally I am not that attached to it - I don't see that it has added a penny to my income.

Can someone tell me exactly where you go on Yahoo to add a credit card so I can start selling over there? For the life of me, I can't find it and auctions I did won't launch until I add my credit card.
I went to my account profile but can't seem to find the right place. Maybe it's the heat today, I dunno! LOL
Thanks much

Try this, Gina - go to Help up in the righthand side, then scroll down to Sign In Information and then What is Credit Card Verification.
It worked for me
