I purchased an item in early May for $13.xx and paid via PayPal e-check. The amount was cleared and the item was sent. Transaction complete.

Today I received my second balance statement for my checking account from the bank since the transaction in early May. Neither time is the amount of $13.xx taken from my checking accout. Every other PayPal echeck has processed and been withdrawn from my account but this one.

So the customer is paid, PayPal shows it was processed, but I have $13.xx extra change in the bank because the bank didn't withdraw it.
Where is it? PayPal not notify my bank? Or did the bank withdraw from someone else?

Any opinions or experiences? Any banking gurus? I always balance too to the penny.....

There is only one way to get your checkbook to balance properly. Go to your liquor store. Write them a check for the exact same amount and cash it. Then buy a bottle of your favorite out of the proceeds. Go home and enjoy!!! Don't forget to toast Paypal's accounting software vendor

I think the bottle should go to the person who reads this post.

I'm asking a banking system process question so I don't know if your post, stopwhining, needs to be ignored by me or if this is an attempt to be humorous. It may be only $13 but it could have been a $500 transaction. I understand the idea of "free money" but I would really like to know the technicalities behind the process.
Sparkz brings up something I'm not aware of....is their a 3rd party vendor? One between PayPal and the user's bank?

The humor wasn't missed by me, Sparkz! I appreciate it.

Toybuyer...Unfortunately, there's no one you can really deal with other than Paypal, and it will be on their terms as outlined in their tos. Paypal is only a merchant account holder, and they are subject to no regulation by any Federal or State banking regulators. Eventually, they will discover the error and your bank account will likely be debited without notice. Until then, you'll just have to live with the $13.00 overage. If this had been a $500.00 error, it would probably be noticed in the first 24 hrs. But since it's only $13.00, someone else could have been debited erroniously and it they don't catch it, it could take quite awhile for Paypal to discover it.

When bank transacts with another bank on behalf of its customers,it is conducted at the BANK LEVEL.
Say you ask BAC to take 13 dollars from your account and ACH to Joe Doe at WFC,in the evening when all the bank computer floodgates are open,BAC will send say in aggregate 1 million dollars (included is your 13) along with details such as 13 to Joe,200 to Mary,7000 to Jacques etc.
When WFC received that one million dollars,it will then allocate 13 to Joe ,200 to mary etc.
Lets say somehow some account numbers are either transposed or just do not exist or the owner has closed the account and left no forwarding addr, the amount is then posted to a suspense account to be sorted out later.
With paypal ,there is just another layer to deal with, think of it,it keeps track of your paypal accounts and then your bank accounts ,why dont you take that 13 dollars and buy me a drink,I cant think anymore!!

stop - ??? I couldn't see anything wrong with the first post except that Toy wrote "customer" where "seller" would have been more appropriate.

toy - I have no idea what could be up. PayPal always takes $ from my balance so I don't have experience with e-checks. Seems to me you should have a "trail" to track it down though.

I hate balancing my checkbook!!! It seems I'm always off a penny or two or three in the bank's favor. Sometimes I think they skim a penny or two off the top.

when my car is running well, the carburator jumps, the engine sings and the transmission hums along, just like the Vienna orchestra.
But then one hot Jamaican night when the owls perched high on the tree top and the cicada vibrates its wings, the fair maiden is just besides herself, her heart yearns for the highland on the emerald isles where the salmon jumps high and the scottish piper plays his tune, she sighs softly and slowly closes her eyes,a few teardrops appear ,streaming down her cheeks and she could taste the salty water on her lips.
Now where is thou, the mother of all heartland?
The land where the thistle crown rules, the pristine brooks where the mighty salmon reigns, and the high castle where the harpists play for his audience?
do you get it??If you do,then go to the kitchen and reward yourself with a cold cold Irish stout!!!
or is it guiness??

I figured most people understood the jest of my issue. I understand Jack most of the time! I'll have to practice when I compose my next 6000 posts.
